It's not. Anywhere. But the how and why it is illegal is not yet settled. It's new enough that an "entrepreneur" can throw up a bullshit smokescreen, make a pile of money, and scuttle them away before the world figures out how to apply the law correctly.
I see your point and agree with it, but I believe you read more defense in my comment than I tried to put in.
I'm not in favor of this waste.
Training the models is very resource intensive, but after that it's basically fine. I can run Midjourney image generation on my modest gaming laptop. Takes maybe 30 seconds for a high-resolution image at a laptop's "gaming mode" power consumption.
AI image generation is comparable in electric use to e.g. playing Valheim or Elden Ring.
It's when it's scaled up industrially that it becomes a huge waste of electricity. Me playing Valhelm for 5 minutes is nothing. My startup creating 20000 bots playing Valheim 24/7 is a problem for society.
That sounds like bad luck. I was far from drowning in coal, but had a few small patches in small demolisher territories.
Near endgame now, and switched half-ish to importing. It gets a lot more practical to import with the right tech.
Supporting the least bad option makes the bad option less visble. It is a real and constructive action one can take to make things better and reduce human suffering.
Not supporting the least bad option because it is still bad, makes one feel better and morally cleaner. It does not make things better. It leaves no dent in evil or human suffering.
Actively dissuading other people from choosing the least bad option makes one feel better than others. It is a real and destructive action that increases human suffering.
People who choose moral masturbation over real and beneficial action are not actually driven by empathy for the suffering children of the world. Do not accept for a second that they genuinely want anything else than to feel good.
Is this an opinion with a question mark glued onto it?
Do these things usually happen from time to time?
I've noticed some lemmy.ml communities looking surprisingly "dead" some days here and there but not thought much of it.
Solar is good! But it's still space consuming, and Vulcanus is a bit space constrained due to the lava.
But if you use the signal from the box? It should be above zero when needed
I'll try this at home, but curious: If you set the inserter's stack size to (Red Star) signal from the box, would that work similarly?
Vulcanus power generation omg
100 hours in, about to go to Aquilo, and now I figured out how easy it is.
Torn between feeling giddy and excited, and feeling like a huge idiot.
Close to 100 hours. Have a ship that I think can get there once it's done stocking up
You're right, the amount of crushers is too much. After a bunch of test runs I think I'll want to remove one of each in favor of more belts.
There are 4 planets in the inner solar system. This is built to travel efficiently between those.
First inner planet ship I'm happy with, name pending
I always felt it was a bit sad that the really cool engine exhaust was always down off the edge of the screen and anything interesting, so I decided to see how this worked.
Pretty happy with it! Learned from last time that I absolutely do not want any processing to go through the main storage, as it makes it so hard to select cargo when everything shifts around.
Also calmed down with engines and uncalmed on production. This thing is used to transport science from Gleba, so it's got to spend very little time refuelling.
Also added fuel, oxidizer and ammo gauges below the main storage so I didn't have to keep inspecing. When everything is full, a 3x7 rainbow lights up. :)
Any suggestions for name? It looks like a beefy dude with hairy armpits, so trying to come up with something that fits my mental image of that somehow.
Any posts not promoting voter apathy is removed as "US election spam".
This one, and others like it, are not and will not be.
Is there some other weight to those judgements I am missing?
Thanks, that looks much better! I de-teched it, fixed the missing cable and balanced it a bit. https://factoriobin.com/post/u6ancx
Not good at IPA, but the letter swapping is common in Finland, Sweden and eastern Norway?
Oh man, I just got to Gleba. That song is going to loop constantly in my head for my entire time there now.
Pronunciation poll
Just for fun! I know there exist "the correct" pronunciations, but how do you pronounce the words in your inner monologue? :)
Nauvis:
- "Now-vis"
- Closer to "Novice"
Vulcanus:
- "Vulk Anus"
- Like "Tetanus"
Gleba:
- "Gleeba"
- "Glebbah"
- "Glay Bar"
Fulgora:
- "Ful-gore-ah"
- "Ful-guu-rah"
- "Fulger-ah"
Aquilo:
- "Ack-eelo"
- "A qui loh"
- "Ack-willow"
And lastly:
- "Space Age"
- "Spaceage" like "Mileage"
Oh it is weak :) It works, but everything is running slow due to low power.
Space Boat III - my ride to Fulgora, then Vulcanus
My first working platform that has now taken me to my first two planets!
After the sad fate of Space Boat which went through the asteroid field like pudding through a cheese grater, and Space Boat II which did not have enough production capabilities to ward off wandering asteroids at Fulgora, the Space Boat III worked perfectly.
With the ability to travel safely and refuel and rearm itself in orbit around any of the starter planets, it is now running autonomous supply transport between Nauvis, Fulgora and Vulcanus without needing any oversight.
At some point I'll have to make a platform with bigger storage and stronger production capabilities so it can travel faster, but for now it does a solid job. :)
First trip to space! Went to Fulgora as first planet
My GOD so many rocks on the way.
Space Boat v1 had 4 guns, and died immediately.
Space Boat v2 had 10 guns, and manged to barely get there by manually pausing thrust several times, then getting smashed in orbit by Fulgora's drifting medium asteroids because it ran out of ammo.
Space Boat v3 has 28 guns protected by walls and a stockpile of ammo. It can get there and back again. Time will tell if it has production capabilities to survive parking in Fulgora orbit.
Today's mystery: Do I have a cold, or did I socialize too much this week?
- Saturday: Event in town, with small kids, socializing
- Sunday: Teambuilding event
- Monday: Work strategy meeting
- Tuesday: Held a presentation and socialized
- Wednesday: Work strategy meeting
- Thursday: Course w/group sessions, parents over for dinner
- Friday: Work event, work event
- Saturday: Museum trip, family visit
Throughout the week, slow buildup of joint pain, feverish feeling, lack of appetite, swollen throat, buzzing head, torpor, lack of focus. Today I am just broken.
These are all (for me) normal physical reactions to overextending myself socially or spending time in sensory intense environments for any amount of time. They are also symptons I would get if I caught the head cold that is going around.
It feels extremely silly that I have literally zero idea if I have a cold or not.
Anyway, treatment is same either way: Take it easy for a while. Mostly wanted to share my frustrating confusion and maybe hear if others have similar experiences and how they manage. :)
Fern Brady's book "Strong Female Character"
This is part strong recommendation and part wanting to know thoughts of others who have read it. :)
Fern Brady is a scottish comedian who grew up with undiagnosed autism in a very catholic small town.
It's a brutally honest and personal story, and she manages to write everything in a way that I found captivating. She can describe situations of absolute torture in a way that makes them seem both heartbreaking, and almost funny in their absurdity. Like a scene where she got recommended an app to help her with meltdowns and describes how she is crying and punching her fist bloody against her living room wall, while with her other hand opening an app and seeing suggestions like "think of a puppy!", "count to ten and think of the last nice thing you ate!"
For me, the description of a years long struggle to push through a medical system with little and outdated understanding of autism resonnated deeply.

ILJ at det ikke går repriser fordi NRK lisensierte konseptet og ikke har fulle rettigheter til showet. :(
SLPT: No wine glass? Jam a bundle of uncooked spaghetti into the bottle.
Make sure they stick out a bit on the top. The capillary acton from the tightly packed spahetti draws the wine up so you can drink it.
