Thinking about making my own lemmy client, but I could use some feedback
  • Not just open source. It needs to have a sustainable community of developers. I’m not interested in a project that dies when the one maintainer has other priorities (been there with another lemmy app) Open source just means anyone can fork it and carry on, but if nobody does, it still dies.

  • Russian deserter reveals war secrets of guarding nuclear base
  • Not convinced by this story. The guy allegedly worked in security on the base, so probably does not know anything about maintenance needed to keep the warheads operational. I also doubt western security services would let this guy speak to the BBC.

  • Help requested: I am emigrating to the UK by the end of January. I am a legal citizen. I could really use help lining up a job before I get there. More info inside. (I hope this is okay, mods.)
  • I hate it too. Signed up ages ago to look at work related posts, still check that once a month or so but never post anything myself. But recruiters seem to regularly scan profiles. And, sample size of one, but my company does not really advertise jobs anymore, they still recruit regularly but mainly through recruitment agencies these days. For your industry, i’m guessing you’re looking at London, perhaps Manchester, for location. Both are more expensive than average to live in

  • How does sort by hot work?

When sorting by hot, I get posts with 1 upvote and no comments near the top. And it is above a post from the same community (nieuws) that has 2 upvotes. Seems to be broken.

my first anduril light (TS10 4000k)

My first anduril light, and first small light. Really happy with it. Thanks to you wonderful people, and the ones we left behind on Reddit, I ditched the cheap supermarket zoomies and got my first decent light from Zak’s list, a wowtac a2s. Good recommendation, great light but angled lights aren’t my favourite. Next one was an fc11. Also from zak’s list and another solid recommendation. Love it, just wish it had better runtime and lower moonlight. I use it mainly for dog walking in woods and fields, and it is good for that purpose. This TS10 fixes my moonlight issue for indoor use and is easily bright enough on full to be my backup if the FC11 ever fails me while out.
