I'm Fleur, feminine guy trying out lemmy. Pronouns don't bother me use whatever you're comfortable with :)

My dream is to have a full body mirror that reflects a better background than gym equipment.

The West is Losing Their Collective Marbles
  • I wouldn't say they've adopted a fascistic internal political system. Like they still have elections and aren't led by a dictator. You can only be so ethno-nationalistic while remaining in the EU lol.

  • What is the central tenet(s) of political anarchism? What makes a political philosophy anarchism vs something else?
  • So far the only things I've seen anarchists do is be anti establishment, make vague comments about removing hierarchy and refuse to elaborate. Generally I think it's pretty broad term non-specific enough in common language to apply to many things but people in anarchist communities all tend to have their own specific ideas and definitions of anarchy. Which I suppose makes sense given the term in question.

  • Arcane Season 2 Ended Today. What're your thoughts?
  • Emotional stakes > all other stakes

It's what made season 1 so good with the climax being essentially a family dinner. I felt really disappointed that a lot of the emotional stakes were sacrificed for action set-pieces. The climax of s2 felt like Age of Ultron: league of legends edition.

I disliked how significant of a role class conflict played. I understand there is a corporate agenda to downplay such things for ideological purposes but it still disappoints me.

Act 1 was easily my favorite act.

Did anyone else find irony in the clearly anti-establishment "jinxers" faction very obviously painting a thin blue like across the entire frame. Within the logic of the story it makes sense but contextually I found that visual amusing.

  • Social media users probably won’t read beyond this headline, researchers say
  • I feel like 90% of people will only look at the first part of a thing tho.

Book titles get read more than the book

Movie posters get seen more than the movie

Album covers get seen more than the album gets listened too.

I did just pull all of this out of my ass though

E: having read the article they're talking about sharing an article not just reading it which would be different since I don't think many people recommend other media they haven't consumed

  • Acting more Australian to foreigners for a laugh only to realise I'm being less Australian than I would be with other Australians.

Sometimes I try to play up the Australian accent/stereotype to foreigners for a bit of a laugh, only to then get in to a conversation with other Australians and realise I was actually playing it down.

Underrated benefit of lemmy is like minded people will tend to join the same instances and if I don't want to interact with those groups I can just filter the whole instance.

A lot less annoying then endlessly filtering content by community and user

Can you "grow" a human from 2 sets of same sex parent DNA?

    Idk if this makes sense.

Obviously not via sexual reproduction but could a person's genetic parents be of the same sex and that person be genetically indistinguishable from the rest of the population?
