It absolutely does not work for everyone and every situation. However, I now see the value and merit of you just turn it on and it does the thing. In a lot of cases, there's minimal resistance because its designed to give minimal resistance. It seems a bit limiting, but some of that design is to minimize user confusion and error, especially for lay people.
When I started to lose the things that made android great I switched to iphone. Now that Windows is really starting to turn to a shit sandwhich, I'll probably switch to Mac fully.
They may have (slightly) walled gardens, but they are very seamlessly integrated with each other.
Fair, but I haven't edited movies in a few years and never got a chance to use Davinci. Either way, Macs are generally good with media.
Animal Well.
Well balls. Oh well, looks like I'm just gonna start the journey again.
I did the apple arcade version. I wonder if I can transfer my progress when I eventually get the steam version.
Logic. Final cut. Those are the two best reasons for MacOS. Everything else is FINE and I'll generally agree, but windows is dogshit when it comes to editing media especially when there's any kind of I/O device attached.
I have steam on my Mac mini and its generally fine. Sure it doesn't play everything, but it can run plenty of games just fine. But I also own a steam deck and windows 10 PC so I'm a bad example.
I have a 16 GB Mac mini and logic is perfect. Pro tools was garbage on my windows PC.
Final cut is infinitely better than any windows video editing software.
Apple hardware is pretty good.
I fought the good fight for years, but modern windows and android hardware is shit in comparison.
Queue the Linux crowd. Listen I like Linux, but every day usability with minimal tinkering isn't there. Apple stuff just works, and there's merit to that now.
I disagree. Ultimately, republicans want 3 things: money, power, and exclusivity. If they can somehow make tons of money off marijuana when no one else can, they would be all for it. Basically they perpetually want Rules for Thee Not for Me.
So maybe they would revert it, but if they could find a way to make it theirs only, they would.
They should’ve never messed with the original avatars. Xbox finally had their own aesthetic in a way that Nintendo always seems to have. Then they went and changed everything.
Only big corporations who either kiss the ring or generate a ton of money and lobby like he’ll will be exempt.
The goal of republicans is to watch out for their clan and get their beak wet doing it. If some republican lawmaker or trump can make money off this they will.
Summer homes in Europe go up in value. A new market for winter apparel opens too. Just think to the potential market growth. This is going to make a few shrewd entrepreneurs very wealthy. The planet will suffer, but man think of the money.
As a longtime fan (since Blackwater Park came out) I am pretty happy with the new common ground Mikel found to please both OldPeth and NuPeth fans alike.
I agree that the last 4 albums were mostly forgettable, aside from a few songs a riffs.
My biggest gripe is how much stuff is packed into each song. I liked when Opeth songs were long cause they really let an idea sit and stay with you. It wasn’t overly repetitive, they always made the long sections (aside from a few choice selections) interesting even they repeated a riff for 2-3 minutes.
I will say that this album has some AWESOME grooves. All the more reason I wish they lasted longer. I feel like songs would be more memorable and distinct if they did.
Overall I’m really happy with the new compromise of sound. I know they don’t want to do the same thing over and over, and this is a happy medium that is a great step forward.
Bodom is still kinda underrated. Think about when they were creating this music and what was popular then. They were right before the melodeath surge of the early 2000’s. Alexi Laiho had his finger on the pulse.
Seeing all the cats made me realize that we need to all participate to make the community what we want it to be. It’s clear to me there are a lot of lurkers based on the influx of cat pictures. The more we start posting in ANY instance the more visibility there will be for active users.
Let's discuss: Opeth - The Last Will and Testament
Let’s open up Lemmy Metal to some album release discussions. This is a hugely anticipated album so there’s no better place to start!
I have many thoughts on it after only 1 play through, but I want to hear what the community has to say first.
All the more reason to make more posts in other instances to flood the feeds with more diversity.
The easiest way to create an internet community is to start with cats.
Falling on deaf ears at this point. The controlled opposition party Democratic Party has already handed the keys to the kingdom to ensure a smooth transition of unchecked power.
I really don’t see any value in AI art. AI pictures look like slop, AI music sounds soulless, AI writing I guess can be fine but usually sounds weird.
I just don’t see the value in AI because to me, every use case scenario for anything artistic is justified with a capitalist excuse.
I’ll give you the organizational ones, that’s understandable and not a bad reason. I suppose I have trouble getting behind taking the soul out of creating something just to slap it on an ad or product to sell something.
I’m still really struggling to see an actual formidable use case for AI outside of computation and aiding in scientific research. Stop being lazy and write stuff. Why are we trying to give up everything that makes us human by offloading it to a machine?
Someone is constantly trying to log into my email account what should I do? UPDATE
I received a notification last night that someone changed my shipping address on Macys.com and when I visited the website, there was an open order for a PS5 with delivery to a NJ address.
After logging into Macy's I got 43 emails at once to seven different services like "Excalidraw" and "Sportograf" trying to login using a magic link.
At this point was was pretty nervous so I checked my main email security. Sure enough, there have been repeated login attempts under my account going on every few minutes for weeks.
I also saw there was an attempted login to my cellphone or home internet company.
I use 2FA, authenticators, etc. Basically what else should I be doing? Is there any way to be more preventative? I really don't wanna chuck this email but it is possible that may be the safest recourse. I do use this email for almost 300 different accounts to various things though.
8/23 update
So I received this suspicious email as a “note to self” from Microsoft in my junk folder. It says it’s from my address but additionally says it’s an “unverified server.” I am leery of it being legit but it is oddly timed.
I’ve added the opening text of the email: “Hello pervert, I've sent this message from your Microsoft account.
I want to inform you about a very bad situation for you.
However, you can benefit from it, if you will act wisely.
Have you heard of Pegasus? This is a spyware program that installs on computers and smartphones and allows hackers to monitor the activity of device owners. It provides access to your webcam, messengers, emails, call records, etc. It works well on Android, iOS, macOS and Windows. I guess, you already figured out where I'm getting at.”
I’ve received these emails in the past and nothing, but I figure it bears mentioning here cause I was legitimately in a less than secure situation a few days ago.

Is there a website to see where US tax dollars are going at a state, county, district, and federal level?
I would love to see a visual representation of where US tax dollars are going based on address. Especially if it has pretty charts.
What are some excellent free games/total conversions that are worth playing the whole thing?
I used up play a ton of Doom mods years ago and a lot of the TCs were fun but lacked substance beyond the surface. Some of the new ones are cool but overly complex. (The Sonic cart game has an hour long tutorial before you start). I was a big fan of Simon’s Destiny, the Castlevania mod for Doom.
Basically I’m looking to see suggestions for free games or total conversions that are worth playing. Before I go spending money onSteam releases, I wanna check out what I might have missed the last few years.
Titanosaur X Gorilla Wizard
A well timed release for Godzilla X Kong day! Check these guys out, both bands are pretty solid sludge!

Games that respect your time.
When I was kid, I could sit in front of TV for hours and sink a day or two away into a game and have no problem having to start the game over from the beginning. Time meant nothing to me and I wasted it like it was a near infinite resource.
Now I am a parent and ain't got time for some of the nonsense that's in games nowadays. I'm lucky if I have even an hour to play each night.
A good example: Forza Horizon 5 allows you to switch cars mid game without traveling back to a house. That to me is a huge time saver compared to the recent NFS games.
Contrarily, Forza Motorsport (2023) makes you do qualifications every round. While realistic, a big time sink.
That said, what are some of your favorite games that have respect for your limited time?
