The purpose of copyright is to encourage the creation of art to enrich society. Making money for copyright holders is a means to an end, not the end itself.
We need a new copyright law that shifts media to public domain if the copyright holder no longer makes it available.
This post gives me "people don't want to work anymore" vibes.
Another way to look at it is, people don't want to pay people to work anymore. Either the pay is such shit that the employees have no incentive to give a crap, or the employer doesn't hire enough people to get the work done.
If only there was some government organization in place that could propose and pass legislation to limit the TSA.
We have two girls of our own (Daisy and Rose). They get plenty to eat, but always act like they're starving. They don't steal food from each other, but they both act like someone is going to steal their food.
Etch had a traumatic youth because he was abused by his siblings (severely: torn ears and scars all over his belly). As such he wouldn't tolerate the presence of any other guinea pigs. My daughter is his herd. He gets along well enough with our girls when he's here now, but they stay in their own pen, so he still has a separation.
I think his time being the only pig in the pen has given him the confidence of a king. He lets food wait until he feels like eating it.

Not exactly the same, but my wife and I are babysitting our daughter's guinea pig, and she needed to clean his pen last night so asked me to hold him.
He was so gloriously chill. He just sat with me eating a carrot and watching TV.
For protected speech, I'd prefer if people would go in, take a ballot, and submit it blank. Essentially, making a statement that there is no one on the ballot who would represent them. It would be more meaningful than not going to the polling place at all. It sends a more significant message than just staying home.
I do agree that we need to make it easier, not harder, to vote.
Automatic registration, election day holiday, laws forcing employers to facilitate voting by their employees.

There was a researcher who wanted to prove that animal fats led to increased cardiac disease and earlier death. He set up in an institution (I think an old folks home) and split the population in two. One half got their meals made with animal fats, and the other half got all their meals made with vegetable fats.
He was partly right. People who got animal fats had an increase in cardiac disease. However, the people who got vegetable fats were dying earlier.
The researcher didn't like the result so he didn't publish. His son found the data after his death and released it.

Personally, I've never minded jury duty, but people seem to lose their minds over it.

My first computer didn't have hard drive at all. 5.25" floppy drives.
My first PC with a hard drive used an ST-506 interface w/molex and data and control cables. 40MB. I couldn't imagine ever filling the whole thing.

Not enough guinea pig photos
Seeing lots of cat pictures, but not enough guinea pigs, so here's Daisy and Rose.
Rose, by the way, seems to have recovered completely from her intestinal parasite.
She was getting better, but her recovery coincided with us introducing fresh wheatgrass into their diet (we grew a little window garden for the girls).
They both loved it, but Rose may have loved it too much and gave herself a bellyache. Rushed back to the vet and got more X-rays just to find out that Rose perhaps doesn't know the meaning of "enough".
She's doing well now, and having no problem with the wheatgrass.
We're also pig sitting for our daughter while she takes finals.

He's unique among guinea pigs in that he was abused by the other pigs in his environment before she got him, so he wouldn't tolerate being around other guinea pigs. He does ok with Daisy and Rose, although they are in a different pen at a suitable distance from his.
Baby kangaroo
I have no idea what a kangaroo has to do with my employer, but they brought in a baby kangaroo for an event, so I waited in line to hold it.
Rose and Daisy are back together!
We got Rose's test results back on Friday, and she's all better, so Rose and Daisy can be together again!

Rose is not feeling well
We had to take Rose to the vet on Friday because she stopped eating hay and started having diarrhea.
Diagnosis: intestinal parasite and gas in her stomach.
She's on antiparasitic meds, antibiotics to prevent secondary infection, and a nutritional supplement to replace the hay she isn't eating.
She takes the tiny doses of the meds ok, but she's not a fan of the supplement.
We had a lot of trouble until we figured out how to get her burrito towel wrapped correctly.
She's starting to do better. More normal poops, started nibbling hay, and she stopped fighting the supplement.
Daisy and Rose are inconsolable because we had to separate them until Rose is all better.
The gateway between the pens is closed now and they keep pulling on it like they're trying to pull it open.

Cinderella Mosaic in Magic Kingdom Castle
It seemed like every time we visited WDW, there was some event or show taking place in front of Cinderella's Castle, and the interior was closed.
When I visited as a kid, you'd walk through the castle and ooh and aah at the mosaic.
I've wanted to see the mosaic again for years, and it was always closed. I finally got the chance again last time, and I took some pictures.
Theme parks like Disney World have been popular for decades, but are the high ticket prices, long lines, and stress associated with the modern-day experience worth the hassle anymore?

When my wife and I went to Disney World in 1996, we planned nothing in advance. We found ourselves waiting in massive lines for rides and spending hours waiting for tables in restaurants. We realized we screwed up and we had to do better.
That was 27 years ago. Since then, we had kids and raised them to adulthood.
Every trip after that we scheduled reservations in advance. Every morning we wake up, we know what park we are going to. We spend about 20 minutes every day we are there planning that day's activities, and we roll with whatever changes we encounter.
I don't understand how having a plan in place in advance of your vacation somehow makes it more stressful. I've always thought it was easier to not have to wonder what we'll be doing and where we'll be going during our Disney trips.
Are there really people who insist on just showing up with no plan and then blame Disney when they are stressed?
Also, it seems like most of the Disney criticism I see is coming from Fox news in some form or another. Is that just my news feed, or is it an extension of the culture war that the right is trying to foment?

Do you ignore work mail or messages?
I tend to at least look at every work email I receive. Likewise for Teams messages. If I see a notification of a new communication, I tend to check it and see if I need to respond. I don't always respond, but I always look at the message.
In various virtual meetings, I've seen other people's notifications when they share their desktop, and it seems like some people just don't bother even looking at them.
Am I the weird one? Does everyone just ignore messages they receive at work?

Without any deep thought, the first one that popped into my mind was Narcoossee's. The food is amazing, and there's a great view of fireworks if you're there in the evening.
When my wife and I went to WDW after she graduated from school (1996, I think?), we stayed on property at the Grand Floridian. It was my first time staying in a Disney resort. We arrived too early to check in, so we went to Narcoossee's for lunch.
The last time we went to WDW (2021), we took our adult children with us, and had a wonderful dinner with everyone together at Narcoossee's.
