Missing a slam-dunk headline
  • Well I was trying to be simplistic but since you typed so much, the reason your message isnt received well is because you assume Ill intent by the OP, while the one getting up votes makes no assumptions about intent.

Technically theirs is more accurate because they are acknowledging they can't know the original intent, while you are arguing that its obvious what their intent is.

  • Some people do actually initially start using opiates as a performance enhancer. Thats not really a crazy take. I know people with similar stories in the first months of their use, before the negatives started outweighing the positives.

  • I think the punishment for changing specs was just unbalanced. In vanilla it was an absurd amount of gold. We had funds for our healers and tanks, and many of them just played alts outside of raids.

Something about the difficulty of it all I think breeds companionship. Whatever we have now is pretty broken.

  • Third party voters are cool with whatever happening the same way someone might be cool with dieing by drowning or dieing by fire, if those are the only two choices.

In that situation would you really shit on people who opt not to make the choice at all or write in silly things like "not die" or "nap time"?

Surely they would have more impact on the future if they chose, but does that much matter? What if everyone chose to make no choice or to vote for naptime? Does the game just fall apart then? Who knows!

    Matter of perspective.

  • Why would you assume I'm skeptical that trans people exist?

I'm skeptical of proposed solutions, but I am with anything. Put another way, I know the problem is real, but I wouldnt say the causes or solutions are well understood.

Additionally I'm concerned with the social pressure that is put on people to shut up and accept whatever a trans person tells you. That makes me skeptical that people are arguing unbiased.

Lastly, I dont like that we seem to be pushing ahead without proper scientific review (https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/03/health/aap-gender-affirming-care-evidence-review.html).

I really hope we have all guessed right already, and I understand some might feel they have run out of time, but to me theres a lot of unanswered or unsatisfyingly answered questions.

  • Just because someone is living this doesnt mean they have a full understanding of things. Skepticism is important, even more so from allies since they have the same goals.

Just because a transphobe has said something doesnt mean someone else saying a similar thing has the same intent.

I find it odd that this group thats trying so hard to stop being an out group, is one of the most aggressive at banning/labelling peolle and placing them into an out group.

  • Amab and afab are equivalent to biological male or female, just less explicit I suppose.

Would you still argue that you are more biologically female than male if you considered that your DNA in every bit of your body still has the male set of chromosome?

I'm not arguing against you, more so arguing that the distinction doesnt much matter and could be argued either way. I'd rather just take someone's word for it when they say who they are. Thats the whole point isnt it, acceptance?

  • Women and LGBTQ+ people take up guns after Trump’s win: ‘We need to protect ourselves’
  • You are claiming that biological male and female has no use because of the edge cases where its not so clear, but its still useful most the time.

Besides, assigned at birth is pretty clear too. Doesnt say assigned at birth and can never change or assigned at birth and we are super sure.

You can't just say people can't use a bunch of words because transphobes have used it as an insult. The words are still meaningful, and hateful people will say literally anything. Why give them any power in the first place?

If someone says some awful transphobic shit, then fuck their opinion and fuck them and move on with your day. They aren't suddenly some messiah giving you gospel. Dont let them live rent free in your head.

  • The last bit is what killed world of Warcraft for me. When it changed from a world with the same people in it everytime, to automated group finders combining every possible world anyone could be in.

Not only will you never see those people again, for a while it was literally impossible to talk to them or friend them.

When they put out classic wow again, they updated it to have all these "new quality of life" features.

    Thank god for private servers.

  • There is no such thing as doing nothing when it comes to voting. Theres no middle ground or push. Each different decision has different meaning. Probably different weight too but a single persons vote isnt going to vary much regardless.

I did vote third party for the rest of the ballot, but if I could go back and change it I would have change my presidential vote to third party. Unfortunately I let the hyperbole coming from the democrats actually scare me and I felt differently then than I do now.

We all know its a fucked system, all actions we take are very unlikely to change things when looked at individually. When we consider groups of people, then I think the best bet to change things is to vote third party. The democrats this election treated third party voters the same way republicans treat illegal immigrants. Only one of those groups can cast votes though.

  • Matter of perspective. Its not important that you think their action has no effect, its important that they think their action has effect.

Neither perspective is really wrong or right absolutely. We won't know which is right for so many decades that its useless to declare one perspective entirely baseless.
