Elon Musk embracing South African heritage to 'fulfill destiny', proud dad says
  • They had "no idea" what the Nazis were but moved from a country against Nazis to a country with a strong base of Nazi sympathisers...

I wonder why people might think they were Nazis hmmm.

Elon was always "embracing" this side of himself, just that before 2016 he had to be more covert about it, as did all the other racist woodlouse that came out of the woodwork

  • Elon Musk says too many game studios are owned by giant corporations so his giant corporation is going to start a studio to 'make games great again'
  • Can we just stop trying squeeze AI into every god damn thing yet?

It has its uses, but its a tool, not a replacement for actual hardwork and talent - and if you try to make it be, you'll just get hot garbage out.

  • Conservative parent is sad his daughters aren't coming for thanksgiving after voting for Trump
  • It's not necessarily about his vote, it's about what it presents. His enthusiasm shows not only is he okay with Trump and his associated behaviour, he's actively advocating for it.

And considering how Trump treats women, anyone who can look their own daughters in the eye and advocate for that POS doesn't deserve them in his life.

  • Israel announces that West Bank settlers no longer face detention without trial
  • It's indeed not a binary choice.

I can easily condemn Hamas and Hezbollah too for the terroristic organisations they are.

But I can also acknowledge the irony in saying that without Israel's military the holocaust 2 would happen while that same military is attempting to pull off that same thing in Gaza.

  • Israel announces that West Bank settlers no longer face detention without trial
  • Well that's a relief... instead we get to watch that same military pull a genocide in Gaza.

  • Trudeau opposes allowing Russia to keep ‘an inch’ of Ukrainian territory
  • Regardless of what you think of Trudeau otherwise, he's absolutely right here. Russia cannot be allowed to break international law without consequence, as it would show other countries cough Israel cough that they can get away with impunity as long as they have nukes

  • The Simpsons: Hit & Run dev says they could've made 3 sequels without paying a penny for the license: "Some crazy person at the publisher - we never found out who - said no"
  • You're right that sequels can absolutely enhance a game's legacy, but they can equally tarnish it ala Borderlands 3.

I'd argue being beloved without a sequel is better than having a bad one.

  • The Simpsons: Hit & Run dev says they could've made 3 sequels without paying a penny for the license: "Some crazy person at the publisher - we never found out who - said no"
  • Alas, we will now never get those three sequels that McGinn and his team had been all too willing to create. But, tragic as that is, perhaps that lack of sequels played a role in Hit & Run becoming the iconic title it is today.

Honestly I think this hits the nail on the head. The lack of a sequel for such a beloved game kept people coming back to play it, and also ensured it could never overstay its welcome.

  • Reddit Got Rid of Their World Buffs
  • Nowadays I barely use Reddit, but sometimes you end up forced to use an app, so I use Infinity with a custom API key

  • Why are you like this‽
  • One of mine will let me do it, on her terms of course. The other bolts if you even think about it, despite being the more aggressive headbutter

  • Court Expands Google and Cloudflare DNS Blocking to Combat Piracy
  • I hate to side with big tech, but they're not wrong... DNS poisoning is ineffective when pirate sites can just change domains, and users can just change DNS provider or use a VPN. It's a cat and mouse race that'll be ultimately impossible to win

  • Microsoft have blocked their own Windows 11 update after it started breaking Ubisoft games
  • For now yeah, but once Oct 2025 comes around, your options are:

    • Keep running Win10 without security updates. If you're planning on using the internet still, you'll need to be increasingly careful as new vulnerabilities come out.

    • Buy (or otherwise acquire) Win10 LTSC. This will keep you safe until 2032 (dependent on which version you get), but when that happens you'll be right here again.

    • Switch to Win11 and just bare with it. Possibly look up guides to see what you can do about debloating it.

    • Switch to Linux. I'm not an expert on Distros but I hear Mint is good for people coming from Windows.

  • Damn, I meant quint but put quad by accident. Should've known better.

Though Pentafecta is actually way better

  • How diffrent OSes evolve
  • The only thing I disagree with here is Win8 being apparently better than Win10.

Win8 was really damn annoying to use without a touchscreen, and while Win8.1 did help, Win10 was by far the better implementation of PC Metro IMO.

Having said that, Win11 is exactly where it needs to be. It's all of Win10's worst traits cranked up to 11 with a heaping of it's own bullshit and spyware on top

  • Congratulations to Suigi getting the quadfecta! After watching Karl's videos on Suigi's 120 and 70 star records, I knew it only had to be a matter of time until he'd conquer them all.

  • Half of Young Norwegians Say Online Piracy Is an Acceptable Way to Save Money * TorrentFreak
  • Instead of focusing on external threats and concerns, legal streaming platforms themselves could make the most progress by changing their pricing.

Among all self-proclaimed Norwegian pirates, the most common reasons to stop were more affordable legal streaming services (41%) and the availability of a broader range of content per service (35%).

It's almost like people don't like paying more and more for streaming services with less and less shows on them, when the pirates will offer you everything in one much smaller subscription (if not for free).

  • Social media users probably won’t read beyond this headline, researchers say
  • In addition, analyses with 2,969 false uniform resource locators revealed higher shares and, hence, SwoCs [Shares without Clicks] by conservatives (76.94%) than liberals (14.25%), probably because, in our dataset, the vast majority (76–82%) of them originated from conservative news domains.

Damn, never would've seen that one coming /s

  • HMD Fusion Review: A Cheap Modular Android Phone
  • Exactly, I'll take boring over exciting if it means my phone will be more reliable over time.

It's the same reason that won't go for a foldable phone. They look cool, really cool, but moving parts means breaking parts - and if they break, they're bloody expensive to replace.
