Some stuff is in the garbage because a corporation doesn’t want to devalue the item they’re selling by giving away the same thing for free. Waste is waste. There’s not much difference between cotton garments, and a box of pop tarts, from a resources standpoint.
If you make it through the door, and you manage to fall asleep, I won’t kick you out until you wake up.
It is illegal to wake up children who are napping in childcare. Sleeping is a fundamental need, and waking somebody is akin to grabbing their sandwich and throwing it on the ground.
Most of the stuff you read doesn’t matter. What matters is how you treat people. Eat good food and smile, enjoy the rays of the sun which burn us all equally. Bask in a hot shower. Go outside, where you can’t see any other people for a few hours, and listen to the sounds.
Believe in Karma. Life is not fair. It never will be.
What’s your process? I like to put the eggs in the pot first. Then I bring it to the sink and cover them with cold water. I put it on the stove and heat it up on high. When it boils I put the lid on and turn the heat off, and set a timer for 11 minutes. Now you may be thinking that’s way too hard, but the temperature is dropping without heat. Yolk is just barely solid in the center. Then I chill them with cold water and dry them off while they’re still warm, and put them in the fridge.
The people who already love Apple aren’t going to complain about their TV, even if it’s meh, because they probably get it as part of Apple One along with the music and news and whatever else. The Apple haters aren’t going to shit talk the shows. They’ll either not watch them or they’ll shut up and enjoy them.
You’ve been watching too much Technology Connections.

Disrupt the appliance industry by making indestructible appliances that share replacement parts. Same heater in the dishwasher as the oven. Sell/rent them as a subscription service. That way you ultimately get to realize the longevity and repairibility.
Californians were confused by words like prohibition and involuntary servitude and incarceration. Look at all of those syllables. Probably up to something tricksy.
Some from Papua New Guinnea have 5% Denisovan genes and there are some who have 5% Neanderthal genes. I would imagine very few people have both. Denisovan would help with cardio and oxygen, and Neanderthal with muscle mass and power. With their power combined, no mere human athlete could compete.
If capitalism could be trusted not to put valuable items in the trash, it wouldn’t be a problem.
Dumpster diving. Doesn’t matter if it’s food or merchandise. It should be illegal to lock a dumpster or willfully destroy usable goods.
The first five you listed are all one thing: bodily autonomy. We each have the right to do to ourselves whatever the fuck we want.
Sleeping anywhere. It should be illegal to wake somebody up, unless there’s reason to believe they require medical intervention.
I feel bad for him, especially for poor dental/healthcare and also for being unable to adapt to his circumstances. I’m gonna come off as a dick here but somebody needs to help him with his spending and a lot of his problems are not as bad on $1000 per month. Cut out bottled water, beer, and tobacco. He complains that he can’t prepare free canned food, but a backpacking stove and can opener costs like $50, or less. He can afford a gym membership which affords both fitness and regular showers. Same goes for keeping warm, burning gas to run your heater is not efficient. It just seems to me he’s not getting help being more resourceful. Don’t spend time writing on a computer when your basic needs aren’t fully met.
I had some neighbors do this but then the storm drain was clogged with leaves and it flooded into their front yard, and the wood chips floated away into other people’s yards.
I think it works better in rainy places where you don’t have 5-7 months without rain. The fungi need time to digest the wood.
I took the day off but I don’t feel like doing anything.
I skipped 2023, but in 2022 I got decently far using newer Excel functions like LET and LAMBDA. And then if I could I would golf the solution into a single cell formula. Years before 2022 I used Python. I think I had more fun with Excel. Will I be up for it this year?

The Forest
The forest was on fire. The trees were scared, and felt powerless. The two candidates offered to save them. The axe, whose handle was wood, suggested that if their neighbors were “relocated”, the rest of the forest would be safe from the fire. On the other hand the old growth tree in a clearing suggested that fire was a natural part of the forest, and they’d all be okay. In the end the axe was elected, but the forest all burned.
Veganism is pro fossil fuel
Before tractors, almost the entire food chain involved animal slavery, since farms used draft animals. For that matter, even transportation was based on animal slavery (horses). Many of the sustainable and high performance fabrics like wool, silk, and leather are now replaced by synthetic fossil-derived plastics. But petroleum is also an animal product.
To be vegan, is to choose fossilized animal products and services over fresh.
Almonds consume as much California water as all household use
Given the combination of their vast acreages, high water requirements, and export crop status, almonds are a controversial crop in California. As an export crop, they play no role in national food security: 70% of the annual harvest is shipped overseas. Here are some basic facts about almonds and wa
70% of those almonds are exported. But you should take a pathetic dribble of a shower.

A systematic literature review considering the implementation of planetary geoengineering techniques for the mitigation of sea-level rise
Current mainstream mitigation measures may be insufficient to halt sea-level rise, implying that radical measures may be required. Geoengineering—which can be described as a mechanism to mitigate unprecedented sea-level rise—has garnered scientific interest in line with the present state of climate change. This study investigates traditional and modern geoengineering techniques through a systematic literature review. The results suggest that conventional and pioneering techniques can decrease sea-level rise, and those optimal results would be achieved through the cooperation of methods. Ultimately, findings from this review informed five strategies: tactical application of conventional geoengineering; optimisation through technique alignment; adaptation to receding coastlines; a global platform for project collaboration; and progression of research capabilities. These strategies, in turn, informed a procedural guideline for policymakers who seek to mitigate sea-level rise.
Cloud Seeding in California
> Precipitation enhancement, commonly called “cloud seeding” or “weather modification” is a scientific method to artificially stimulate clouds to produce more rainfall and snowfall than would be produced naturally. The primary mechanism is to inject substances, such as silver iodide or ice crystals (cloud seeding agents), into the clouds, enabling snowflakes and raindrops to form more easily. Various cloud seeding programs have been operational since the late 1950s. The majority of programs continue for a number of years during winter months and as conditions warrant. The following is a summary on previous cloud seeding programs in California.
I think my home network may be compromised, please advise
When I go to iknowwhatyoudownload.com, a bunch of stuff shows up for my IP that’s definitely not being downloaded by anyone in my house (foreign language torrents). Aside from that my router (AT&T Arris BGW210) needs to be restarted about once a week, due to some kind of dhcp issue. The most recent event seemed bad - none of my devices had internet, they could all talk to each other, and my ONT activity light was flickering steadily. During this time I had no access to the router, even plugged in directly to LAN. Fixed by a restart but no idea what was going on.
The DHT torrent thing has been happening for months and the router thing could just be that AT&T sucks. I have no other evidence that something is wrong.
I could buy a firewall and put it downstream of the AT&T equipment.
I could switch internet providers, get a new IP address and router, and see if that fixes it.
Should I try to figure out what’s going on or just keep restarting the router once a week and ignore the DHT hits from my static IP?
Digital globe
A really expensive internet connected globe. Like most globes it would have its axis on a tilt. Except this one would also show a live view of day/night, and also the clouds from satellite imagery. When you touch the base you can scrub back and forward though the past 24 hours of images.
