This is malice. Thug Ford continues to ruin the health of Ontarians.
  • I think there should be a mechanism to hold those responsible for unsafe road design to account. Otherwise nothing would improve. there will always be distracted and dangerous drivers, and they should also be held accountable, but to build infrastructure in a way that is known to be unnecessarily dangerous should be punishable too

  • that is not done in the Netherlands. For cyclists you just point in the direction you're going with the arm closest to that direction. This is taught to children at a young age.

For driving a car I was never taught hand signals, I suspect that if you drive while your lights aren't working, you'll get a fine if caught. Wikipedia says that when driving oldtimers, which often don't have a cab, you just point in the direction you're turning, same as on a bike.

  • Moving from the US to the EU soon... Any advice?
  • This is the absolute worst advice for coming to a European country. It's probably different in Denmark but for some countries or cities at least you won't be able to get through the bureaucracy needed to legally immigrate without speaking the language. Even in offices that mainly help foreigners you may find the employees don't speak English. And if you want to be there long-term, good luck making real connections if you don't speak the language.

  • looks like normal variation in a persons lettering to me. compare the k in textbook with the k in skibidi, almost the same. distances between letters and especially risers as well are similar between the two sections.

  • Rheinmetall receives order to build ammunition factory in Ukraine
  • nato doctrine doesnt rely nearly as much on artillery since they (believe they) have the capabilities to establish air superiority. most likely, air power would replace a lot of what ukraine and russia do with artillery, at greater cost but with more precision

  • Wayland really breaks things… Just for now?

    Note: I'm not the author

This post is in part a response to an aspect of Nate’s post “Does Wayland really break everything?“, but also my reflection on discussing Wayland protocol additions, a unique pleasure that I have been involved with for the past months1.
