I don't get it. I'm a nice guy, I eat well, I work out, but I can never get a date. All Zeus has to do is turn into a swan and the ladies are all over him.
  • Nah I'm good. Mods threatening others for pointing that they're making rape jokes is not a place for anyone. It being unintentional does not make not a rape joke. If I posted a picture of Nazis saluting with a title of "wow Germany seems great, theyre all waiting for highfives!" without knowing about Nazis, would that not still be a pro-Nazi post?

  • "Zeus seduces Leda in the guise of a swan. She strokes the bird's head and neck and kisses it on the beak. Hypnos (sleep personified) waves a wand beside her head. His brow and boots are winged and he wears a cloak draped over one shoulder. According to the poets the god's device was a branch of yew wetted in the somnolent waters of the river Lethe. On the left Peitho, the goddess of persuasion and seduction, presides over the scene with her arm outstretched and left breast bared." Source

  • The world is a big place
  • It's called functional literacy, which is what's being talked to here. Also, your anecdote fails to address other possibilities. I have a friend that, under stress of a new location, may lose the ability to read menus, and their literacy matches other academics in their field. I am a reader that cannot read aloud because that is an entirely different skill than reading.

    Welcome to The Infodump!

Hello and welcome to The Infodump!

I often have a topic I want to go off on, usually a special interest, but I have no one to talk to about it, so they stay as typed up notes until I could find a place (outside of reddit). I also love learning about new topics from passionate individuals, so I decided to start a community for that! The Infodump which I created as a space to allow for autistic people to make posts about their special interests in a respectful and safe space, at least while Lemmy is small and niche communities are too sparse to really have any engagement.

    Mod Introductions

I'm Fern! I love seeing communities grow, and want to foster this one into a healthy community. This is the first time I've attempted to mod a community, so it may be a bit shaky at first but I'm dedicated to see this place thrive as much as possible.

If there is anything you want to see here rule or moderation-wise, or if I seem to be missing something important you want to see, please feel free to comment here or message me directly!

    My Introductions!

Hello, new instance! I am Fern (she/her) and I was recently diagnosed as autistic after suffering from a ~4 year burnout (and lots of 1-6 month burnouts before that 😮‍💨) and a bipolar misdiagnosis. Found a good therapist and am getting professional help finally!

I don't know what else to say here tbh, so I'll list some of my special interests:

    • Justness/Fairness
    • Information Accessibility
    • Ontology
    • Super Smash Bros Melee _
    • Banjo
    • Electrical engineering
    • Video Game Controllers and their development
    • Linux
    • Not sure whst to call it, but Privacy? Internet/digital security?
