95 drones were diverted using spoofing tactics that manipulate the satellite coordinates guiding the drones and missiles through Ukrainian airspace.

Ukraine sees influx of Western war tourists
  • Well that's a fine recommendation. Thanks. I'm not getting to travel much at the moment to be honest as I have one metric heap of kids but I hear you on the safety thing. People used to ask me if I felt safe in Dublin during the troubles in northern Ireland so I get that differentiation that even a small distance makes.

Edit: What's the best way to get there? Flight to Poland then a train?

  • Ukraine sees influx of Western war tourists
  • I would love to go to Kyiv. Your chances of being involved in a serious incident after very very low and it's going to be absolutely thronged with tourists after the war.

I hear the nightlife is great, food is great and the people lovely.

Edit: I could not really do the whole war tourism thing in the article though. Bucha I think would permanently scar me.

Edit 2: Odessa looks beautiful too

  • Russia condemns "irresponsible" talk of nuclear weapons for Ukraine
  • give em a couple before Trump gets back in the big chair, you know, as a treat. A NATO pre welcoming gift..

Few nukes for deterrence. As a little treat as you say. Ten maybe. Fifty tops. Enough to definitely glass Vlad with absolute confidence.

Edit: and just to be clear, I really fucking mean that because Vlad is going to use a tactical nuke to rattle us all. I called this about two years ago and I fully expect him to do it because in his mind it makes sense. Prick.

  • Russia condemns "irresponsible" talk of nuclear weapons for Ukraine
  • Russian foreign intelligence chief Sergei Naryshkin said Moscow opposes simply freezing the conflict in Ukraine because it needs a "solid and long-term peace" that resolves the core reasons for the crisis.

Sounds like they wont stop until they reach Kyiv or die trying. Give Ukraine nukes.

  • Republicans (TM)
  • That is gold.

    Magnificent.

  • Tulsi Gabbard’s history with Russia is even more concerning than you think
  • Agreed and agreed. The ISIS fighter jets one got me. That woman is thick as a plank.

  • Tulsi Gabbard’s history with Russia is even more concerning than you think
  • You're missing the joke. :) There was a typo in the quote and the jokes are now about tires / tyres.

  • Love these videos. The effort these guys go to to get an accurate count is phenomenal.

  • What was your "one that got away" and where are they now?
  • Married 20 years and also a serial monogamist and this is great advice IMO.

I don't have a "one that got away" either and I'm madly in love with my wife but yeah.... I definitely could have had more fun. Get out there.

  • Ruble = rubble
  • I'm not sure but it is a thing. Russians have historically valued currencies other than their own.

When I was young I was lucky enough to visit Russia just after the fall of the USSR and we were told to bring US dollars and only exchange them daily.

Over ten days there was about 10% in the difference from start to finish.

  • Ruble = rubble
  • Magnificent.

  • Ruble = rubble
  • It did recover quite a bit in the first half of this year but is collapsing again since August.

  • Do you use the popcorn button?
  • 4 times extra but five times total to reach the equivalent.

Edit: just to be extra clear in the comment I'd be getting 2:30 with just one press of the +30 button

  • Ruble = rubble
  • I believe it's lost about 22% in value against major currencies since August (USD, Yuan).

  • Do you use the popcorn button?
  • Try the numbers if you have them. I recently discovered that hitting 2 instantly starts 2 minutes then +30 saves me having to press +30 five times for the equivalent.

I was starting to worry about how much abuse my +30 button could take.

  • What have we come to?

What's the longest you've ever had to wait in line to vote? Where in the world?

Me: Ireland - Approximately 2 minutes until poll in hand is the longest.

I've been seeing long lines for the US elections even for early voting. Seems completely unnecessary.

Anyone ever buffed out small eyeglass scratches? What did you use and how did it go?

Mine have built a decent number of very small scratches and they're getting annoying so I'd like to get rid if at all possible.

I've seen various things suggested including:

    • lens scratch repair kit (reviews don't look great on amazon)
    • baking soda paste
    • non-abrasive toothpaste
    • furniture polish (temporarily fills in the scratch from what I can tell)

I'm reluctant to try any of them without some first hand accounts. No lens coating on these so no worries there.

    Thank you in advance!

edit: I just want to say thanks very much to everyone. I ended up getting my prescription emailed to me and buying a new pair for €17 (about $19 USD) delivered on a site that one helpful poster linked. Looks like they will take about 3 weeks to get here so I'll put up with the scratchy ones until they get here.

When they do arrive I will take some pictures and test the various methods I found online then post up what works and what wrecks the lenses.

Aussie warehouse worker arrested over 'Bluey' coin theft

    > An Australian man is set to appear in court after being arrested for the alleged theft of more than A$600,000 (€359,880) worth of commemorative coins linked to the popular children's television show "Bluey", police said.

    > The 47-year-old is accused of stealing 63,000 unreleased, limited-edition A$1 coins from a secure warehouse in the Sydney suburb of Wetherill Park in June, according to "Strike Force Bandit", a special unit police set up to investigate the theft.

"Strike Force Bandit" is honestly an incredible name. For those not familiar with the show the father is called Bandit.

What are you doing with the kids this weekend, dad?

Keen to hear any novel ideas (or just the humdrum of your weekend).

Planning on watching Raiders of the Lost Ark and / or Star Trek Voyager with the 10 year old myself. Going on a decent hike and playground with the gang also in the mix.
