I could already tell I knew the song by the second level but I just couldn’t place it.
When I play basketball, it gives a slight advantage in the beginning when opponents don’t know I’m a lefty because they automatically assume I shoot with my right.
Also, being able to naturally drive one handed in a left-hand drive car.
You literally use Mint without ever opening the terminal if you’re just a regular/casual user. The update manager notifies you of new updates and you can use the gui.
Who took the picture though? /s
Not circuits related, but this is me the second I finish the certification exam I’m taking tomorrow
Remember, if you got an item for $70 instead of the $100 regular price, you didn’t save $30, you spent $70. That’s what I tell myself when I see discounts on stuff that aren’t immediate needs.
Yup, and a lot of people confuse being able to visit visa-free as a tourist and actually living there. Digital nomad westerners skirt around visa/residency requirements in 3rd world countries by basically leaving and coming back every 30 days to reset the stay limits. That won’t go as well with first world countries as they will quickly notice the pattern and probably ban you.
MFA should be baked into HIPAA standards.
Not directed at you personally, but I find it fascinating how most people from first-world countries think they can just walk into another country and live there. As someone who moved from a 3rd world country to a 1st world country, it took me 2 years just to get in, and another 4 years to get permanent residency. And that's relatively quick. People from certain countries wait more than a decade to get permanent residency in the US. You either need to have a job or a citizen family member that is willing to sponsor you, or get in with a student visa. And not just any job or family member. The hiring company must meet certain requirements to make sure that you are filling in a position that is in a specific list of professions allowed. As for family, they need to be immediate relatives. So you can't live there just because you have a cousin who is a citizen there.
It's why I make it a point to buy merch when I see a band I like on tour. They probably earn more from it than the actual tour itself.
If you’re just lurking, RDX is a great alternative. An actual thick client and not a web app. I don’t know how the dev gets it to work but it’s great for when I just want to check my city’s sub.
The barrier of entry is lower. You have to remember the average internet user is either not tech savvy enough, or too lazy to learn or step out of their comfort zone.
Yup, I am considering that and starting to budget for it. If the HOA is a bitch about it, I’ll do it in the backyard and cut my total mow time by at least 40%. It will also reduce my water bill.
I was actually really looking into a condo/townhouse for that very reason, but when I was home searching, the high monthly HOA dues and the fact that condo prices were practically the same as a house, plus the higher interest rate vs a SFH steered me away. We’ll see, maybe in time I’ll get tired of it and do the same as you.
We aren’t justifying getting shafted by corporations. What I and the other person are saying is that at some point as your connections and cables multiply, you need to consolidate and streamline your setup for it to be more practical and actually mobile. I’m all for having all the basic necessity ports on my laptop, but when your desk ends up as a mess of cables and pulling out and putting back your laptop becomes bothersome with having to attach/re-attach everything every time, having a dock makes it much simpler. Subjecting yourself to setting up all those cables on both ends instead of just one end is the opposite of having a mobile workstation for quick setup and cleanup.
Does mowing count? I hate doing yardwork and I do it just often enough to not get a notice from the HOA.
Due to possible listeria contamination, almost ten million pounds of prepackaged meat and poultry products have been recalled by Oklahoma-based company BrucePac.
Some HEB products included.
Best way to automatically silence notifications at a specific time frame while already in Focus
This needs to be explained a bit, so here's my problem:
- I use Focus for sleeping. I manually enable it when I go to bed and disable it when I wake up.
- My Focus setting disables notifications for email, calendar, and some messaging apps.
- My security camera app notifications are not disabled, obviously because I want to be alerted if something triggers it in the middle of the night.
- However, there is a certain time in the morning between 7:30AM and 8AM where people walking on the sidewalk triggers alerts that wake me up. And no, I want to avoid not pointing my cameras away from that part of the sidewalk because it helps me catch people letting their pets pee and poop on my yard.
- I usually wake up at 8AM and getting woken up 30 minutes earlier is annoying.
- I am willing to accept the risk of not getting notifications from my cameras on my phone for 30 minutes before I wake up.
What is the most practical way to disable notifications from an app on a scheduled time duration while Focus is already in use? Schedule it in Health? Create a shortcut/automation?
How to choose mutual funds to invest in
I've been on an HSA+HDHP for a couple of years now and only realized recently the interest earned from investing HSA money is also tax free, so I want to start investing a part of my savings and see how it goes. I have 2 options, Betterment or Mutual Funds. I figured I'd try the latter to avoid fees, but I'm not sure which funds to choose. My HSA currently provides 30 fund options.
I see people mentioning Vanguard a lot so I spread out my initial investment into 25% chunks across 4 different Vanguard funds. How did I choose them? Well I literally just looked at the performance graphs and selected the ones that historically went up steadily without major dips. As a total noob, how can I improve my choices? Is there a simple way to decide without having to dive deep into the stock market?

Sushi Bake
Since there was some curiosity about what a sushi-bake is, here's my own recipe for it. Sushi-bake is basically a "deconstructed" sushi roll where the ingredients are layered instead of rolled then baked in the oven. There are different variations of how it's made, so this is my take on it. Apologies if I don't have exact measurements of portions, as I just wing it and base it on the taste.
Ingredients:
-
Sushi rice (regular white rice is fine if you don't have sushi rice, but add a bit more water when cooking to make it more moist).
-
Rice vinegar.
-
Any protein of your choice like crabstick, tuna, or salmon; shredded.
-
Fruit/vegetable. Cucumber, mango, avocado, or any other ingredients you'd like to add to your sushi; sliced and cubed.
-
Japanese mayo (i.e. kewpie).
-
Sriracha. In my case, I used a gochujang-based hot sauce with truffle oil.
-
Furikake.
-
Sesame oil (optional).
-
Sugar/sweetener (optional).
-
Mozarella cheese (optional).
Recipe:
-
Cook sushi rice as directed.
-
Mix your protein, veggies, and fruit in a bowl with Japanese mayo and sriracha.
-
Mix the cooked sushi rice with a few tablespoons of rice vinegar and a bit of sugar (optional). I personally don’t put sugar because I find the rice vinegar enough for flavor.
-
Line a baking pan with foil. You can also do without, I'm just lazy with washing.
-
Grease the pan with a little sesame oil.
-
Add a base layer of sushi rice on the baking pan and flatten it thoroughly.
-
Add a layer of your protein/veggie/fruit mix on top of the rice.
-
Sprinkle a layer of furikake.
-
Optional: Since I like to put cheese on everything, add a layer of shredded mozarella.
-
For aesthetic purposes, draw alternating diagonal lines of mayo and sriracha, and top it off with another sprinkling of furikake.
-
Bake at 350F for 15-20 minutes.
To eat, slice it into square bites. You can eat it as is with chopsticks or a fork/spoon, or use Nori to scoop it up.
Why don't city limits just follow county lines or vice versa?
My city's limits covers one county and half of the county north of it. Why don't they just follow the same lines on the map, with either the county following the city, or the city following the county line?

Lack of content and behind-the-scenes stuff from all-star weekend
Not sure if I'm just not looking at the right places, but did anyone else notice that there's a lack of video content released from this year's all-star weekend? I remember from previous all-star events there were a ton of videos of players interacting on the court and locker room, as well as behind-the-scenes videos. The all-star practice was also officially televised. This time around most of the interesting content I've seen are from people in the arena taking videos from their phones, not official ones.
Getting logged out when switching between wifi and data
Does anyone else get logged out when switching between wifi and mobile data? I notice when leaving the house (or coming home) and my phone switches between wifi and data (and vice versa), the app asks me to login again. I have the beta/testflight version.
Which one is more energy/fuel efficient to cool the inside of the car: lower thermostat + lower fan speed, or slightly higher thermostat + higher fan speed?
On a hot day and traveling in a car, which method of keeping the occupants comfortable with the A/C is more energy and fuel efficient?
-
Set the thermostat to a lower temperature and keep fan speed to the lowest setting
-
Set the thermostat to a slightly higher temperature and compensate by setting the fan to a higher speed so you can feel cool enough with the breeze

Dune: Part Two’s First 10 Minutes Shown at CCXP
Read full description of the movie’s opening and more footage screened during CCXP 2023. Plus, the panel with Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Florence Pugh.
I had the opportunity to see the first 10 minutes of Part 1 in an advanced teaser back then. I wish they also did the same this time around, as this seems to be an exclusive event instead of opening it to a limited number of audiences from the public.
