The most ironic part of the new US oligarchy is that the republicans built it by feigning outrage about the influence of ‘unelected’ bureaucrats, the ‘swamp’ of monied DC influence peddlers, and a ‘deep state’ of rogue agencies wielding unaccountable power. Musk is an unelected government contractor who built most of his fortune on federal contracts, and tax credits. He is the world richest individual, throwing his money around to wield influence in DC. Now, he’s encouraging a federal agency to punish what he perceives as a political rival for speech that he doesn’t like. Musk has hit a hypocritical trifecta. Of course Americans, in general, are too stupid to realize any of this.
Americans deserve the damage this administration will do to our security. Americans deserve the economic hit we are about to take. Americans deserve the loss of freedoms we are suffering. Americans deserve the lies and gaslighting and false piety and manufactured consent being pumped at us on these screens. Americans deserve the further entrenchment of this new ruling feudal class. Americans deserve to watch the oligarchs flout the same laws that bind everyone else. Americans deserve the avoidable illnesses and untreated suffering that the rest of the world is organized to treat. Americans deserve all the violence that a self-serving authoritarian regime always needs to sustain itself.
Don’t ever let your drooling, bigoted, cowardly compatriots forget that we chose all this. The fuckers didn’t even need to undermine the election. We Americans are stupid enough to just hand our own wellbeing over to these rich assholes willingly.
The United States is a fucking joke. The nation supposedly founded on the rejection of a king believes that one person is literally not subject to US law. I could not have more contempt for, or feel more shame about being an unwilling participant in the unprincipled hypocrisy of this absolute shit hole of a country.

I’m old enough to remember when the Republican base was pretending to be alarmed by “rich men north of Richmond” pulling strings and undermining the will of the people. Oh, and remember “the swamp”? That was a good one.
Remember that his first official act as president in his first term was to send Sean Spicer out, literally on day one, to scold the press corp for seeing the paltry crowd at his inauguration. This guy is always, always just small dick energy in an ill-fitting suit.
If Democrats are to ever succeed on a national level, the party needs to adopt strategies that acknowledge how comprehensively ignorant, gullible, and emotionally driven the American people are. They also need to stop banking on the notion that there is some kind of innate ‘goodness’ to the American psyche that can be appealed to.
The UN has had nothing to do with contributing to the trend you have described. As unpleasant as it is, that is almost entirely a result of nuclear deterrence.

I am seeing the sentiment all over the place right now that says one should somehow adjust his or her principles because the electorate presumably disagrees with them. It is implied by some that there is somehow wisdom in the election results to which we need to cower. And, it is implied that not doing so is un-American, or perhaps un-democratic. All of that is nonsense, spewed by the very same unprincipled liars that have been enable the rise of fascism in the US for at least 40 years. Don’t let them lull you into accepting the autocracy that promises to enrich them at the expense of your freedoms, health, wellbeing, and wealth. Some things are just wrong, and they continue to be wrong when people support theme in mass. The republicans didn’t stop being fascists just because people voted for them.
If you encounter one of these, absolutely don’t pet it. Instead, kick it. Run over it. Perhaps, light that little robot fucker on fire. But definitely don’t pet it.
Yup, history is watching us completely drop the ball here. History is watching Joe Biden fail to rise to the occasion of addressing the onslaught of US fascism. The environment, peace, wealth, and our very freedoms are now in dire peril.
Dumbest motherfucking people in the world elected the dumbest motherfucking administration ever. The only upside that I can anticipate is that these dumb motherfuckers may greatly hasten the weakening of this country, and hopefully speedrun toward something like an end to US hegemony around the world.
Please don’t ever be lulled into believing that there is anything normal or sane about having a carve out that makes the President not subject to laws. As we transition into full-blown tyranny, and the out-group begins to grow, I’m trying to educate myself about how to cope with it, survive and maybe even resist. I have found that discussions among black Americans online are extremely enlightening in this regard, presumably because they have existed forever in a precarious state, something like that which many more of us are about to be thrust. I’m not interested in scapegoating black males over this election. This happened because too many Americans are dumb fucks, ruled by emotions, and gullible as hell. End of story.
Never start taking for granted that it’s not completely bat shit crazy that we live in a country where a president could plausibly make multiple criminal cases against him just go away. That is not something that rules-based societies allow. That is not compatible with a democracy, at all. If he gets away with it, never again pretend that the US is a democracy. Never ever pretend that we are guided by things like a constitution or laws. Never pretend that we cherish justice or truth. Never let the rulers, like our new fascist overlords, wrap themselves in the comforting pretense of all these virtues. If they are going to be the bigoted theocratic autocrats that Americans apparently want, then make them at least be open about their evil. Don’t let them dress it up in nonsense and pretend to be good guys. Never let the drooling masses that voted this in forget that every dead kid, every broken family, every polluted stream, every flooded city, and every grinning billionaire criminal, is on them. They wanted this.
