Apple has added what is essentially a Bixby button to the new iPhone.

Hear me out, Bixby button was used to launch Samsung's personal assistant Bixby. This button is used to launch Siri. Then the button was mended to add further capabilities of launching other apps or phone functions.

The action button was never to lunch Siri. Holding the side button already does that.

This one was always designed to be programmable and by default does the same thing as the current mute switch.
This button replaces the mute button, the action button which summons siri is a different one….

  No more mute switch no. Now it’s a button that you can program to do pretty much anything.
  
  The default is still toggle silent mode though like the switch.
