What are some tools you need when starting to do basic DIY Mechanical work and possible home improvement in the future.
  • If you've got sockets, wrenches, pliers, and screwdrivers you're 90% there. Get an impact driver, you can use one for pretty much anything with the right bits. I buy DeWalt or Milwaukee power tools in the US personally, but it doesn't matter much. You won't be using it all day every day, dropping it off scissor lifts, etc like I do.

A good set of jacks will go a long way. And start collecting flashlights.

  • 'Are you trying to kill us?' MAGA voters complain about Trump's 'depressing' nominees
  • Regardless, he megaphoned anti-vax talking points and inflamed the entire situation, he's still directly responsible for so many deaths, let's not whitewash where he stands on the issue just because his administration allowed people to do their jobs.

  • What is the central tenet(s) of political anarchism? What makes a political philosophy anarchism vs something else?
  • "Government" is a very vague term.

Anarchists are opposed to rulers, not rules. We want to be able to establish our own rules directly. The form of social organization depends largely on the anarchist you're talking to, but most of us support some variation on federated communes utilizing direct democracy and delegates, not representatives.

Honestly, just read The Conquest of Bread by Petr Kropotkin. It's available free at thebreadbook.com

  • What is the central tenet(s) of political anarchism? What makes a political philosophy anarchism vs something else?
  • No, because the plumber doesn't have power over you.

Your boss has power over you - he can decide to remove your source of income, and uses that as leverage to get you to do what he wants.

Your government has power over you - they have a monopoly on the use of violence and use it to maintain control.

Your preacher has power over you - by making you afraid for your soul, he can manipulate you unwillingly, or severely impact your social status.

Your plumber is someone providing a service, that's completely different.

  • What is the central tenet(s) of political anarchism? What makes a political philosophy anarchism vs something else?
  • Opposition to hierarchy.

From Greek for without rulers. Anarchism is rooted in opposition to forms of domination and coercion; historically, its three main opponents have been the Church, the State, and capitalism. The main Western tradition of anarchism dates back to the advent of socialism, although there have been many anarchic societies and philosophers the world over for pretty much as long as people have existed.

There are lots of forms of anarchism, generally relating to either different visions of an ideal horizontal social structure, or just boiling down to what that particular activist focuses on (anarcho-feminists are mostly concerned with patriarchy, for instance). Mostly, anarchists aren't prescriptivist - as long as people are trying to take power into their own lives, anarchists are for it.

  • What does masturbating or having sex physically feel like to you guys?
  • Idk I'm with him. Orgasm just isn't something I care about. It's something I do when my body seems to demand it, and then I'm like "good, that's over with". It's something I've noticed since I grew out of my alcoholic horndog years. I didn't need sex, I needed to be loved, and, having that, I just don't care about sex anymore.

I still do it (mostly for my wife's sake), and I enjoy it when I do, but immediately afterwards it's back to not caring about sex at all.

    Baby Huey - Hard Times

As a middle-aged white dude discovering Baby Huey, I feel robbed. This whole album is amazing and it should've been part of my life before. The breakdown at around 2:05 is like being electrified through my soul.

That Hot Wheels game on PS Plus is actually freaking awesome

I spent all weekend racing toy cars around backyards and arcades with zero regrets.

If you're a fan of arcade racing games and haven't played a good one in a while, I highly recommend it. This game, despite having a childlike coat of paint, really doesn't mess around with the racing - you have to nail the tracks. There are three unusual buttons in Hot Wheels you don't find in many others: a "juke left" and "juke right" (square and circle), used for offensively bumping other racers off the track or into obstacles, and a jump mapped to triangle. Jumping is generally infrequent, but there are absolutely parts where you need to time it to clear an obstacle like a ledge.

Crucially, there are lots of ramps and jumps on each track, because how could it be Hot Wheels if there weren't? Which adds an interesting difficulty if you're playing on controller - if you hold forward on the stick normally to fine-tune your steering, you'll suddenly nose-dive once you leave the track. So be sure to read the course well and let off the stick once you're in the air.

Vehicle customization is basically non-existent, but getting new vehicles is pretty painless. There's a shop with five or six available at any time, and it refreshes every so often, or you can spend a small amount and refresh it yourself if you're feeling shoppy.

But there's a whole track builder too! With community tracks that look wild! I haven't really dipped my toe in that yet to be honest.

Very enjoyable, highly recommend it if you'd like Need For Speed in a Hot Wheels flavor.

    Has old.reddit.com stopped working entirely?

I still browse the subreddit for whichever game I'm into on my phone browser and old.reddit is a must, I can't stand the different style sheets. I remember it was gonna get ended but hadn't heard about it in a while. Anyone know if that's gone now?

I finally joined the SF club! The emblem stays on forever now.

Far too many attempts but I got it.

Solar Warlock w Sunbracers ALH+CC Riptide, S4A+Incandescent Epochal Integration, Xenophage for everything till the final boss. Then I swapped Xenophage for Recon+B&S Apex Predator, and brought Sunshot.

    On to the next one!
