What are some tools you need when starting to do basic DIY Mechanical work and possible home improvement in the future.
  • Here are a couple of items that I wish that I had picked up earlier. They are not required, but they greatly simplified my life.

    • headlamp: Trying to balance or prop up a flashlight while working used to result in so much frustration.
    • tin sheers: I love these so much that they have replaced scissors in most day-to-day applications
    • flexible drill bit extender: So many screws are in places inaccessible to a drill body. This inexpensive item solves that problem. Magnetic wristbands: Keep those screws and bits from getting lost.
    • level that is at least 2ft long: I really appreciate having a level that can span two studs (16")
    • precision / mini needle nose pliers: I don't need them often, but when I do I am always happy that I have them
    • painters tape: I am surpised how often I use painters tape for all sorts of applications
  • If you could see back to any year in history, which year would you choose? You can skip around in time and space within your chosen year, but not affect anything.
  • Maybe I want clear enough, so allow me to expand.

Some events, like the cited example of award shows, have their outcomes decided on before they are announced. If I gain this ability after that the decision is made but before the outcome is announced, then I could place a wager on it now without impacting anything in the past. This is where the "depending on the timing" qualifier comes into play and why I said "already decided but not yet announced".

  • If you could see back to any year in history, which year would you choose? You can skip around in time and space within your chosen year, but not affect anything.
  • The ability would be see back to any year. I could just look back at any specific event within the year. I wouldn't need to memorize anything if I can just observe it.

I already consider myself a fairly happy individual. I would be pursuing financial independence, not happiness. Besides, why would I assume that the acquisition of knowledge would have an impact on my emotional state.

  • Soup help needed
  • So many questions:

    • Is the soup hot or cold, in the hole?
    • What type of soup is it?
    • Is it gluten free?
    • Is it vegetarian or vegan?
    • Did they even taste the soup to know that it is, in fact, soup?

It is the lack of these type of details that make me suspect that this is not real.

  • If you could see back to any year in history, which year would you choose? You can skip around in time and space within your chosen year, but not affect anything.
  • This year. Having near omniscience about recent events would have so many useful applications.

My stock predictions would be crazy accurate if I could observe what decision makers were planning but had not yet implemented or were still in the process of implementing.

Depending on the timing of when this ability takes affect, I might be able to also place wagers on events, like awards shows, that have already been decided but not yet announced.

My ability to solve crimes by observing how they were committed and what happened to the evidence would propel me to Sherlock Holmesian level of noteriety.

I am also sure plenty of influencial people would be willing to do favors for me in exchange for my silence on some of their various recent activities.

Those aren't even the imaginative ideas.

  • If you were an intelligent sea creature who could not always rely on the sky to tell time (as is often the norm whilst out there), what would you use as a time reference if you wanted to measure time?
  • A few uneducated thoughts:

I feel like there should be a way to use tides to track the passage of time. Maybe by monitoring the shifting water at fixed points?

While a clepsydra may not work underwater, a inverse one that slowly releases air instead of water might. Similarly, any container that slowly releases sand, or other such substance, at a constant rate could be used. Either by adjusting a scale, releasing counterweights, or even tracking how much has been released into another container (like an hourglass).

  • GOP senator introduces bill to legally erase transgender people
  • Sen. Roger Marshall of Kansas has spent WAY too much time thinking about genitals.

How does his definition accommodate for intersex and hermaphrodites? With his medical background he surely is aware of these conditions and didn't ignore them just to accommodate his own personal prejudice, right?

  • Matt Gaetz says he doesn't plan to rejoin Congress after withdrawing as Trump's pick for attorney general
  • No. He helped to shield the reputation of an accused rapist, pedophile, and sex trafficker.

By nominating Gaetz, Trump gave him an excuse to resign that has nothing to do with the ethics probe against him. After he resigned, the Republican led ethics committee was allowed to withhold the release of the ethics report. Once that was done, Gaetz withdrew from the nomination ensuring that the report also does not come up during confirmation hearings. Thus all of his dark secrets remain hidden in the shadows allowing him to reoffend and / or seek other positions of influence.

  • Trump expected to offer Kelly Loeffler secretary of Agriculture
  • Reading the Kelly Loeffler Wikipedia page to see just how unqualified for this position she is.

Loeffler aligned with President Donald Trump in her time in the Senate, touting a "100 percent Trump voting record" during her campaigns.[3][4] After the November 2020 election, Loeffler and Perdue claimed without evidence that there had been unspecified failures in the 2020 U.S. presidential election, and called for the resignation of Georgia secretary of state Brad Raffensperger, who rejected the accusations. She later supported a lawsuit by Trump allies seeking to overturn the election results,[5] and also announced her intention to object to the certification of the Electoral College results in Congress.

Due in part to her stance on the Black Lives Matter movement, and the resulting criticism expressed by many players on the Dream roster and within the league, in February 2021 Loeffler sold her stake in the team.

Loeffler donated portions of her Senate salary to anti-abortion pregnancy centers and an anti-LGBTQ adoption agency.

During the 2024 United States presidential election, Loeffler was a top donor to Donald Trump, having contributed more than $4.9 million to his re-election effort.

And there is so much more in that wiki page.

  • Gaetz withdraws name as Trump’s attorney general nominee
  • As predicted:

Trump named Gaetz to cabinet position giving him an excuse to step down as rep, the ethics report can then be withheld since he is no longer a Congressman facing accusations, he then withdrawals from the cabinet position so it doesn't come up in confirmation hearings.

Good job on protecting pedophiles and sex traffickers!

Is that what they meant by "Drain the swamp"?

    A reminder before election day

Since the Trump campaign seems to think so highly about the role of the Vice President, their power and their influence, I thought that this was an important reminder.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday in Texas court, asks for $15 million to cover damages including what the company calls the destruction of natural vegetation.

    Concepts of a meme

I don't know if I can come up with a lazier political meme than this. Took virtually no thought at all. Any idiot could have put this together. Seriously. It's like I'm not even pretending to try to come up with an idea.
