  • Control
  • Same. I imagine, for me at least, it's due to having deal with unendingly different keyboard models and not being in front of a terminal all day.

I can however type relatively quickly with either my left or right hand and with the keyboard facing me or sideways. It's a skill that's really useful when helping someone out with an issue they're facing. (I prefer being at their side over remote, as I can gauge what they do and don't understand better)

  • No worries as long as the intent wasn't to be mean. The thought patterns of what goes on in a person with ADHD, ASD, BPD, ect.. can be really hard to follow, even for us.

A lot of the memes here are what we go through every day. They're just tempered with a bit of cynical humor. It also tends to be an avenue for us to vent about the highlighted issues, of which most neurotypical brains don't usually have trouble with.

I guess the best way I can think of to describe the idea the comic is parodying on is that we (people with ADHD) go around life with a microscope stuck to our eyes. In that we can focus extremely painstakingly well on one subject, but as soon as we shift focus or get distracted, we tend to lose our place, sorta like flicking a slide with your finger at 1000x mag and losing that one bacterial cell.

After years of dealing with this, we tend to subconsciously build very detailed models of how things work or how someone achieved an end-result. This skill gives the appearance that we are gifted at something we just picked up when, in fact, we are just using a model we already built and adapting it to the new thing.

For the comic, we tend to not absorb a cooking time very well unless we know why it's at that specific interval -and- what is going on (at a granular level) before it's reached, along with what will happen after.

  • I just make sure the instructions are facing up when they go in the bin. Just needs a quick glance without any extra steps to distract and make you forget. (I got rid of the bin lids as my trash/recycle is usually dry and doesn't smell)

  • You seen Hoarders, right?

  • So this is how my neighbor fixes his fence.
  • One of the issues with that is that unless you are WFH, you would very likely have to find another job that is commutable. With local salaries more of less being intertwined with the housing, (see cost of living) the new job would also very likely put you in the same position you started with.

Trying to get them to understand (put two and two together) the different facets of a conspiracy or something that is rigged tends to lose them when there is more than one thing at fault.

  • As a novice at soldering, I now have an opinion about single-sided vs. double-sided breadboards
  • They're pretty much the same as a solderless breadboard, in that they have dedicated power/signal rails and multiple rows/groups of bridged pads. They are usually used for a working prototype, as opposed the solderless ones used for initial circuit design/debug on a benchtop.

Here's a general design with dedicated in/output pads.
