Putin threatens UK with new ballistic missile as Ukraine war escalates
  • Dear Mr Putin,

Please don't TARGET BLACKPOOL. It would be a huge waste of a missile as there isn't any SECRET GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS IN BLACKPOOL. Let me be clear, we'll respond with a strongly worded letter if you AIM FOR BLACKPOOL. It will cost us tens of pounds to repair the damage, and we simply haven't got enough money left after giving billions to various government contractors.

Kind regards, Someone that has been to Blackpool

  • Far-right candidate takes shock lead in Romania presidential election
  • I was reading the comments on this on /r/europe and there were Romainians commenting how they were shocked as this as they'd literally never heard of him. He wasn't in any TV debates or any of the usual media election circus. Friends, family - nobody had heard of him.

I know people live in "bubbles", but for a candiate to suddenly be in the lead where people who are politically active have never heard of him is wild.

  • Windows VS Linux (part 2)
  • There's winget now too, which is the official Windows package manager. I've used it a couple of times now and worked as expected, not sure how it compares to chocolatey outside of simple app installs though.

  • Windows VS Linux (part 2)
  • This is the same on Windows, you can just carry on and then complete an update when you go to shut down the machine. Can't remember the last time an app install or update required the whole OS to be restarted immediately.

  • Why is everyone vehemently against easier lives?
  • I just feel super alone like everyone wants to have hours of chores instead of making them easier.

Why do you care about how other people choose to spend doing their chores? You seem angry for things that don't affect you. Focus on your own life.

  • Why is nobody talking about the farmer's protests here?
  • Agree with everything you said. I find the hostillity towards farmers strange. I'm convinved a lot of the negativity comes from more urban folk who are still bitter that farmers generally voted for Brexit (although they voted inline with the rest of the population) and imagine that they're all loaded. Farmers literally produce our food and essentially work 24/7, no matter the weather, work in dangerous conditions (heavy machinery) and like you said, have crazy high suicide rates.

Garmin watch users: Do you use the suggested workouts?

I've had my watch about 6 weeks now and I've just started to try to recommend workouts to see if they make any difference.

Just wondering if people use the suggested workouts or whether they're just a bit rubbish? How do I know if the suggestions are accurate for what I need?

What does your ideal Sunday look like?

For me it would be where the sun is shining, the house is tidy and there's no chores to do.

Start off with a decent breakfast and a decent mug of coffee. I'd have had my run the previous day so can rest a bit. Maybe head out for a walk, grab some lunch at the local garden centre. I've just redownloaded the game Ingress after not playing it for years, so maybe play that for a couple of hours.

Get home and watch the F1 while I prepare and cook a lasagne in the afternoon. Smash said lasagne with a glass or two of a nice red wine and then spend the evening playing Minecraft for a few hours, then an hour or two of reading before bed.

The reality though is far different as I have two young kids!

Do you wear underwear under your running shorts?

Apologies if this is a bit too much information!

I realised recently that my shorts have a netting like swimming shorts do and decided to ditch the boxers and see how it was. What an absolute game changer! I don't know why I didn't do this a year ago when I started running.
