Doesn’t that impact your view of the screen?
Depends on the sensitivity you configure, usually you only tilt a few degress. I do prefer it on a Dualsense controller though with no display attached to the controller.
Do you use it in hectic situations - like doom etc? Or is it better for sniping and stuff where you have time to aim?
Usually for instances where I have time to aim. I have seen quite a few people who are really good with the trackpad but I'm more of a mouse or gyro control guy.
Trackpad rules in strategy games though.
If you like 3D platformers, you will love Psychonauts 2. One of the best in recent years.
Psychonauts 1 aged poorly by modern standards. It is worth playing for the story though or if you can power through some 2000s 3D platformer jank.
Hey, I also picked up the Cyberpunk DLC.
Pacific Drive was pretty good!
I guess trackpad aim is just using the pads instead of the joystick?
You can combine as well. I usually use the stick on the left hand and the trackpad on the right one. You can also go back and forth while playing.
does that require tilting the device?
Yep, you can set it to activate only if your finger is resting on the right joystick. Very useful for precise movement, just bring the camera in an approximate direction with the stick and do the rest with the gyro control.
For the more popular games there's usually a few community profiles you can download and try before messing with Steam Input yourself.
It's a bit frustrating how crap I am at gaming, particularly with shooters.
Since you have a Steam Deck, did you experiment with gyro and trackpad aim? I suck at controller aiming as well but that makes it so much easier.
FYI, it's 35€ on green man gaming right now.
I finally bought Nine Sols.
Played through it on my Linux PC, worked flawlessly. Fantastic game!
My tip is to play the game until you find it fun, while developing it.
That's a good tip, if your testing sessions get longer and longer because playing the game is fun you're on the right track.
Lots easier now with far fewer cables to be run, cases offer more space behind the mobo for hiding cables and not the 3/4” of space they used to offer.
That's why I only use cube cases nowadays. Just shove all cables into the back and you're done.
btrfs has been the default file system for Fedora Workstation since Fedora 33 so not much reason to not use it.
Why?
It makes no sense for a government/military to use a proprietary system made in another country when there's a very strong movement inside of said government for an open system. They have incredibly smart people at SUSE, Manjaro and KDE right on the inside and you are telling me they can't do better than hitting subscribe on Office365?
Assume the EU and US have a conflict, now the EU is stuck with an entire ecosystem made in the US. Assuming they don't already have all your internal data, they can just get it with a single click.
Roomba? It takes less time to just vacuum the place than it does for the fucking vacuum to realize it’s been humping the same chair leg for most of its battery charge.
If you are willing to put in some work, Valetudo is fantastic: https://valetudo.cloud/
My two robot vacuums have been working for 5 years with no intervention other than emptying the bin every 2 weeks and dusting off the sensors when it complains.
Assistants?
Same as above, if you are willing to put in some work, Home Assistant includes a voice assistant and they ship devices now with everything preinstalled so you can plug in and go: https://www.home-assistant.io/green/
Yes! Pretty great so far.
I really like that most episodes so far experimented with different artstyles for certain scenes like water color or pencil drawings. We will see on Saturday if the story also sticks the landing.
It's unfortunate that Netflix did not release in 4k while season 1 is now available as 4k blu-ray and looks glorious even without being rendered in 4k.
I have a Voron 2.4 right now, and had a Prusa MK3 before that.
It remains to be seen what additional work the kit amounts to. The Prusa XL can be assembled within a few hours while the Prusa MK3 is a day project and the Voron is a multi day project, not even including the time needed to research the different Voron kits.
Assuming it does not lack in features or quality, I think the price for the kit is fair since it includes the full Prusa support, next day shipping for replacement parts and it is made in the EU. The Voron with its flying gantry is dope, but I do sometimes miss being able to just write Prusa about an issue and get replacement parts under warranty in 2-3 days.
Price is still too high IMO, it should be €1050 for the assembled printer, not the DIY kit.
Considering the Bambu X1C costs 1050€ I'm surprised they were able to get the kit price down to 1050€ while still manufacturing in the EU.
Looking forward to the reviews to see how they compare.
This looks pretty cool, might pick a kit up if the reviews are also good.
Not really, the only wifi devices are phones and IoT.
1000 hours in Alan Wake is impressive. I assume you played part 2?
Is that actually an UPS or just a backup battery? Can it passthrough the line power directly or does the inverter need to run 24/7?
In the latter case you might want to check how much power the inverter eats just by itself. For example, my Bluetti with 2 kWh needs a whopping 50W in idle just to keep the AC ports powered. Of course your unit looks much smaller so it should be way less but still worth measuring.
Full-text search proxy for Jellyfin
It's not really a well-kept secret that the search in Jellyfin needs a lot of work. It's slow, doesn't deal with typos and commas correctly and doesn't allow searching multiple fields at once.
I made a quick and dirty proxy to enable a proper full-text search in Jellyfin while the dev team is working on the EFCore migration. It's not perfect but it's much better than what Jellyfin currently provides.
If you are running Jellyfin inside of Docker and use a Traefik reverse proxy, check out the image/repo below.
If you know what you're doing (this is Lemmy after all), the proxy is a simple ASP.NET application and works with pretty much every reverse proxy once configured.

https://hub.docker.com/r/domistyle/jellysearch
If you tested with any Jellyfin client not in the README, feel free to let me know. If you used any other reverse proxy than Traefik, also let me know.
What are your favorite accidental skips?
Doesn't matter if it happened to you, a friend or a streamer. Bonus points if you have a video of it.
I know this is a fairly small community but let's see how this goes:
I just started a multiplayer playthrough recently with somebody who was constantly asking if he could have found X before finding the info that points him to it, hence this post.
My favorite skip:
spoiler
I had a friend stream the game who accidentally walked into the Ash Twin Project after walking away backwards from the oncoming sand and stepping on the teleporter platform. He never figured out how he managed to do it all the way until the end of his playthrough but it was an interesting watch since he had information players wouldn't normally have right from the start.
Spare Signals From The Outer Wilds vinyl
I have a spare (unopened) Outer Wilds vinyl lying around which I'm willing to send to a non-scalper Outer Wilds fan for MSRP. The vinyl in question: https://www.iam8bit.com/products/outer-wilds-2xlp
Before selling it on eBay I thought I would try here. The price I paid including shipping and import customs is 50€, shipping is on me.
So if you live in the EU, have a record player and want it, just post a quick picture with your record player setup and your Lemmy username on a piece of paper so I can see that you can actually play it.
Episode discussions for Lemmy
Since a bunch of new users are arriving from Reddit (including me) maybe it would make sense to port the /r/anime bot that creates episode discussions to Lemmy so there's regular content here?
The bot is open source: https://github.com/r-anime/holo
Looking at the source it should not be so difficult to add an option to post to Lemmy as well.
Thoughts?
Would something like this be allowed? @N3DSdude@lemmy.ml @Nami@lemmy.ml
