  • It seems like a lot of toxicity warnings are based on an industrial scale so I'm curious about the impact of using a couple printed boxes, versus the impact of the next laziest option: synthetic landscaping "fabric" or that thick black plastic material.

  • Built next to a church that changed the bells and now I'm in therapy
  • I used to live next to an interstate.

These white noise machines are GOLD:

There are several brands, so don't feel like you need this particular one.

Create any water features you can indoors and/or outside. These create background sound to drown it out.

Thick fabrics on the walls facing the sound can help if you can't afford to do new windows right now. I believe they also sell window inserts that deafen sound, as I was looking into them at one time.

To your particular issue, since it's a specific song (maybe?), a repeating catalog of songs, or at least specific frequencies/tones every time, and it's at specific times, I wonder if you could rig up some sort of noise cancelling device or sound to play at those exact times in your bedroom?

  • Voters rejected historic election reforms across the US, despite more than $100M push
  • I had this exact thought! It's a simple comparison with a subtle nod to acceptance of the somewhat-more-likely-to-be-conservative blue collar crowd.

The progressives need better messaging on literally everything. I'm only into marketing as a side interest and some of the crap the Democrats put out is infuriatingly bad--especially considering it's up against the fascist/corporatist propaganda machine.

  • Your kid marries a much older person for money; how do you manage?
  • She's an adult and I assume she's mentally capable. Just support her and when/if she ever regrets her decision, she'll have you around to lean on.

If you openly hate on her decision or shame her for it, you're only going to drive her away or make her even more firm in her choice.

  • People outside the US, how do you feel US expats or exiles would do in your country or region?
  • Yes, this is exactly how I would define it.

I also don't think it imparts a general pro/anti integration with locals (not to say some assholes aren't out there).

If I was thinking of immigrating elsewhere, I'd want to be near a few other people from my country who've been there longer than me, if only to make the transition easier and to get help with any issues specific to people from the same place.

  • Every time I see a question in a news headline, I just answer it with "no." in my head and move on. 90% of the time it's the same answer the article arrives at and the other 10% of the time, I'll see a real headline about it from other sources anyway--with the actual lede in the title.

  • Bernie Would Have Won. Seriously.
  • What if I told you it was also about manipulating voter opinions.

Like how the superdelegates were all pledging their votes to Hillary way ahead of the first primaries. Or how the DNC pushed Hillary over Bernie, as was clear in the Debbie W.S. leaked DNC emails. Also, the widespread pressure from party darlings on Bernie to drop out.

Messaging from the media was to blame as well. This was reflected in:

    • Lack of coverage of the polling that showed the better margin of success in a Bernie v. Trump matchup against a Hillary v. Trump matchup. This one is especially egregious, in my opinion, since a lot of the Hillary supporters I personally knew voted for her in the primaries because they assumed she had a better chance of winning.

    • Lack of coverage about Bernie's higher popularity with independent voters in polls.

    • Widespread reporting when Hillary decided to label Bernie supporters as basement dwellers.

    • Hillary accused Bernie of being sexist and the media did terrible due diligence.

  • Trump details plan to ban gender-affirming care for minors and adults
  • Sucks that breast augmentation will be banned for girls under 18. And I assume likewise for guys regarding treatment for gynecomastia.

The party of rAtIOnAliTY aNd lOgiC would know that those are also gender affirming, right?

What in the fresh hell is this?

Stumbled on this while researching tablet PCs and clicking on a Reddit "post" from Google results. I take no pride in any part of that sentence.

Across the country, states require more training to prepare students and teachers for mass shootings than for those expected to protect them. The differences were clear in Uvalde, where children and officers waited on opposite sides of the door.
