Netflix is leaning hard into trying to make you watch anything other than what you want to watch. This is such a weird obsession of tech companies. Websites do it all the time. I'm trying to read an article and they keep shoving pictures and links to other articles all over the middle of what I'm reading. Oh, and when I get half way through, they refresh the page so the can show me more things I'm not interested in. Fucking wankers.
I think they do it because getting you to go to the thing is the point, not watch the thing. Once you've gone to the thing they just want you to go to the next thing. Watching the thing is just wasted time for them.
It probably has to do with maximizing your exposure to advertising.
TikTok proves it works and keeps people with low attention spans addicted and more likely to watch ads. This should become an unethical practice like pyramid schemes. If your website shows a high percentage of unrelated content, it should be seized by the government.
I’m behind, how did Minecraft get enshittified? I catch the occasional stream and the game looks like it’s on another level from when I last played in like 2012
Java edition is still generally okay, but MS has been trying to cram it in the typical mobile game mold with a store and stuff. If MS had made Minecraft, we'd probably have item stacks of 10 or 100 rather than 64. :D
Literally all of those are still incredibly popular and one of the leaders in their respective space. Sure, they have been "enshittified", but not killed off by it yet. .
minecraft is shit now? I last played around 1.15-1.16 and I had a lot of fun. I don't really follow it but I haven't heard of any recent dissatisfaction. What have I missed?
Google started charging for the map api use of their service, there are ads in search and the ui is horrendous.
The one guy running altgrocery got charged hundreds of dollars because people flooded their website’s map in search of local independent grocers.
That’s why I’m on Organic maps instead now. It’s got 1% of the user base and 10.5% contributors as Google maps has. The UI is clean and the map is easy to contribute to.
