RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic Coming to Nintendo Switch
  • Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 is already on the Switch and idk, as much as I love this series, playing on a controller just felt so much clunkier than mouse and keyboard.

But that’s probably just me. Still excited this game is getting new light

  • Bugfixes are a “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” thing with remasters. Purists and speedrunners often prefer bugs remain unfixed, others don’t

But I definitely see what you mean with the overly busy designs and inaccurate models. I actually died once to my own rocket launcher because I thought I was shooting through a gap between a cliffside and a tree but the gap acted like an invisible wall

  • I’m curious what you think they messed up with CE anniversary? I just recently played through it and can’t remember any changes besides the graphics, which can be switched back to normal by simply pressing the Tab key

  • Reckless
  • Is this why coffee is often served as molten lava? Because all yall blow on your coffee before every sip? I despise all of you. I just want to drink coffee like any other drink

  • [ExtraFabulous] Why God?
  • Please teach me your ways

  • Do normal people mute the ads or just let the television keep going?
  • You’re not a freak, they’re something that you don’t wanna pay attention to but they’re literally made to grab your attention, so it drives you crazy. Nothing wrong with muting them

Commercial breaks wouldn’t drive me so crazy if every third ad wasn’t for a medication with legitimately gruesome side effects

  • The Pythonic Emptiness
  • The “but muh types” criticism of Python has always been completely ignorant of the main use cases of Python. Like yeah, probably shouldn’t use it in avionics or medical devices. But scientific computing where you’re basically just using the interpreter as a calculator? You really only care about whether something’s an integer or not. Float vs. double isn’t gonna kill you

  • Lemmy, how bad for an individual can consuming cannabis be?
  • For about 2 years, I was smoking at a level that was definitely bad. I would smoke 2-3 bowls in the morning, then have multiple sessions at night of 2-3 bowls each. I was going through an ounce of flower per week.

The sheer amount of time it took to smoke that much was a waste, I mean I was watching TV while I was doing it but it was pretty garbage TV, since I wasn’t mentally present enough to watch anything good.

I basically gave myself asthma. I never had asthma attacks before I started smoking and then I started getting them during my sessions and then I started getting them outside of my sessions.

Anyways, I’m 3 months clean now with no plans to ever touch it again. I know that I can’t just be a joint-on-the-weekend-kind of guy. I’m no longer getting asthma attacks and I’m sleeping much better now (and I get dreams again! I missed that so much)

  • So can’t play on Xbox :(

  • Denis Villeneuve Disagrees With Tarantino Refusing to Watch 'Dune'
  • It’s also stupid to call it a remake when it’s an entirely different attempt at an adaptation of a book

  • Daniel Craig Says 'I Don't Care' Who Plays James Bond Next
  • By “fun” you mean Bond being a chauvinist pos? Yeah nah, I don’t think “why do Chinese women taste different” would do well

  • Anime
  • Ok but Lois posting in waifu threads is allowed right??

  • Enshittification only hurts product itself.
  • I’m behind, how did Minecraft get enshittified? I catch the occasional stream and the game looks like it’s on another level from when I last played in like 2012

  • The gym nowadays
  • I always hear people complaining about “those kids” but I just don’t see it at the gym I go to, other than like the occasional mirror selfie. Maybe it’s just because the gym I go to isn’t the type to attract influencers?

But also, recording yourself lift is a great way to see things that you’re doing wrong that you wouldn’t otherwise notice

  • What's some good news from election night in the US?
  • Unfortunately, I think liberals are going to continue taking the easy route, which is not really having much of a platform other than “we’re not Trump supporters”

  • The .io domain might be in trouble
  • I’m not saying you’re wrong, this is just a very American marketing approach. Like, why would a tech company want to grow out of the tech sector? Oh right, never ending quarter over quarter growth…

The wild part to me is that the average person doesn’t even know what IO means in a tech context, but enough tech companies have used .io for normies to be conditioned into associating .io with tech

  • The .io domain might be in trouble
  • Not all TLDs are, just the ccTLDs. The .io domain was never intended to be such a popular one, but tech bros were like “zomg io! That’s like input/output!! So techie!!!” Meanwhile, .tech exists and is not country-specific but is far less popular for some reason.

  • Is there any country culture, like *yeehaw* country, you truly enjoy?
  • Country music from before it became hick rap. Songs that told cool stories instead of being about nationalism and pickup trucks

Backyard Baseball's return to modern PCs may look like a simple case of emulation, but it was much more complicated than that.

I had the 3-pack with the original football, baseball, and soccer PC games. Put countless hours into them as a kid, so I’m super excited for these rereleases

    Alternative to Alexandrite Lemmy UI?

I've been hosting Alexandrite as my main web UI for Lemmy because Lemmy's own UI is a bit too basic for my tastes, but Alexandrite hasn't been updated in 7 months and is still missing features like setting a default comment sort type. Can anyone recommend an alternative with a similar look and feel? I use the "list" view on smaller resolutions and the "cards" view on my ultrawide

Can we have a rule against posting several similar images in succession?

I get it, part of the fun of AI images is being able to make several images in a single stroke. But there are multiple ways to put those images in a single post, rather than making a post for each.

The Legend of Banjo-Kazooie: The Jiggies of Time

It’s pretty crazy that romhacking dot net shuts down the same day I finish playing through my first retro mod, but that is in line with my usual luck…

Anyways, this mod for Banjo Kazooie is absolutely incredible. It’s Banjo Kazooie set in the world of Ocarina of Time. The levels were cleverly designed, the Easter eggs kept me smiling nonstop, and every song was an absolute tune.

If you are a fan of Banjo, Zelda, and Nintendo in general, this is a definite must-play. Guaranteed to warm your heart

    UVC Viewer with Upscaling

I have a UVC capture card that I use to play my Switch. Currently, I utilize it via the full screen projector feature of OBS, but the Switch is 1080p while my monitor is 4k and the upscaling that OBS uses causes some noticeable artifacts.

I’m wondering if there’s an application with some configurable upscaling options that would make this experience better. I don’t need anything crazy that would cause noticeable input lag, but anything even slightly better than OBS would be welcome

Most painless way to play Old School Runescape on Linux?

I see there are several different ways to install OSRS on Linux - flatpaks, Android emulators, Steam, etc. - but can anyone recommend the best as far as ease of setup? With lack of glitches being the second priority?

I have an AMD GPU that is quite recent (<5 years)

    Character Limit

It's my turn to set the Community Challenge for this week...

    Theme

This week we're doing theme via creative constraint. Make whatever you want, you just can't use characters. More specifically, no characters, named or unnamed, from any stories, songs, games, etc. That includes mash ups.

You can definitely still have people, you can still use tropes, and even create your own totally original characters. Just no reusing existing characters, or obvious derivatives

    Rules

    1. Follow the community’s rules above all else

    2. One comment and image per user

    3. Embed image directly in the post (no external link)

    4. Workflow/Prompt sharing encouraged (we're all here for fun)

    5. At the end of the week each post will be scored according to the following grid

      | Prize | Points | | --- | --- | | Most upvoted | +3 points | | Second most upvoted | +1 point | | Theme is clear | +1 point | | OP’s favorite (me, this week) | +1 point | | Most original | +1 point | | Last entry (to compensate for less time to vote) | +1 point | | Prompt and workflow included | +1 point |

    6. Posts that are ex aequo (tied) will both get the points

    7. Winner gets to pick next theme! Good luck everyone and have fun!
