for the record, for anyone struggling to not burn a turkey (probably a little late...oh well.) Turkey's are almost impossible to balance the time necessary to reach a safe inteiror temperature in the thickest parts without ruining the thinnest.
One way to greatly simplify that, if you don't really feel the need to have that perfectly-presented whole bird, is to "spatchcock" it. basically you remove the spine and crack the ribs so it lays flat. (you can then remove and carve the breasts etc as normal. stuffing, if that's your jam, can be made by putting it under the bird.) (also, contrary the video, I'd suggest brining it for a few days- a tub with salty water will do nicely, or you can get all sorts of creative. Salt on the skin takes way longer than a few hours to get in. Just saying.)
I always assumed it was a loyalty test.
If it were any other captain, I’d have assumed the replicators were coded to provide burnt turkey when people ask for “Traditional thanksgiving turkey”- you know. To give that “authentic” experience.
Cats and many other animals will have loose skin for defensive reasons.
Honebadgers can almost completely turn around even if you have a firm hold on it, making it hard to pin down.
It also provides protection from getting clawed.
The secret to not burning the turkey is simple.
Burn the ham instead.
Or as he’s falling out the window?
“FUUUUUuuuuuuuuuu…..”
Honestly, the only reason I enjoyed it is that everyone dies.
Although, let’s be honest here, if you have enough time to find a fucking beach and make out…. You have enough time to find a shuttle or something.
Bubs is bucking for branch manager.
True, but gaining physical access to the repeater is going to still be difficult, and I would be shocked if there’s not some type of switch that triggers an alarm when it’s accessed. It would also be extremely difficult to upload fresh firmware to it in place- at least, or without removing it to a dry environment.
(Maintenance would just upload it through the data connection.)
It would be easier (and probably actually profitable…) to gain access to it during manufacture. This was the legitimate concerns about 5g infrastructure being made in china.
Regardless, it’s almost certainly more cost effective to get hooks into the IT guy maintaining the system than any physical attack.
“Supernatural” is just unexplained, or misunderstood, natural phenomena.
I’ve spent years working in supposedly haunted buildings (as security.)
the guy who loves sharing his ghost story really didn’t appreciate being told that the “fleeting man” he saw apparitions of, were his own reflection (specifically in a corner window of a conference room, or in certain circumstances, in double-paned windows.)
Nor did he appreciate being told the ghost “walking” down the stairwell was really just the fire sprinkler standpipe clunking against the stairs as the building cooled off. (And the reason it happened around the same time every night was the building’s hvac being set to a lower temp to save energy.)
He most certainly didn’t enjoy being told that the doors closing in his face were caused by shorts in the magnetic door holders and that he really should have put that in his report (he was written up for not reporting a maintenance issue.)
He also got written up when we found out that he was leaving windows cracked in the space above him, but he wrote them off as ghosts screaming instead of the wind whistling through a slightly cracked window.
Our understanding of the universe is imperfect- and it probably always will be. The point of science is to improve that understanding using evidence and experimentation.
I’ll take science any day of the week.
You need some acid to balance out that savory. Cranberry is the usual choice but anything will do.
I wouldn’t call them “buddy buddy”
Biden is way too subby for that. Netty is his top.
It should also be noted that they’re incredibly energetic. If they get bored… they can get destructive in a hurry.
It’s best to keep any kind of shepherd well exercised and mentally engaged.
“The only thing trump can produce on a counter is E Coli! The BEST E Coli! HahaHAH, stupid Libs!!!”
- trump, probably. (Never trust a person that speaks in 3rd person.)
Would they even want Texas?
I wouldn’t. I’d give it to them… if it were up to me…
Not easily.
They’re deep enough down that getting to them requires some creativity (ROVs, specially trained deep sea divers, etc.)
Then, how do you sever the connection with the operator not seeing the break? Just installing the snooper is going to take time. A sudden loss of all signal and then that signal coming back? Yeah they’ll notice.
Then how do they get the data back? Either they have to run their own cable out (expensive and obvious,) or they use the cable itself and double the data going through…( also obvious. )
Further, everyone and their grandma uses encryption for basically everything. Anything actually interesting is going to be heavily encrypted. (This is also why they’d double the data through put. The snooper won’t have the power to break the encryption,)
Wild turkeys are violent mofos.
The butterballs? Lol.
“Scared”? No.
I just don’t care to.
So, depending on the postmaster you talk to, it should be cooked for about 30-60 minutes per pound at 225-250f.
I built my smoker with a raspberry pi to control it, though, and do some creative things with the temperature- as it comes up to 165 inside the bird, the smoker comes down to 165 itself and stays there for a few hours.
Eventually? It does dry out, but I’ve had it so tender that when I’m trying to carve it and the drumstick thief comes along, all they get is a bone.
As for stuffing… you technically don’t even need the bird for it. Though, it’ll miss out on absorbing some of the drippings, unless you collect them and add them.
That said… I’m not even a stuffing guy and I find that blasphemous… so…it should be noted that though the cavity for a splatchcocked turkey is smaller, it’s still there and you can spread the rest around the turkey just fine.
Deer are pretty easy to socialize. Start with salt lick.
I’m not going to look, but I’m willing to bet, there’s already a “games” studio called X Studios… and they make porno games.
He probably already has every title. And so do the neckbeards that worship him.
I can't wear the stupid "I voted" sticker. Because they stick it to the mail in ballot instead.
Granted, I was going to slap it onto one of my parent’s shiny kitchen appliances and make jokes about it being a mistake to let them have WiFi…. But still…..

Why bag the hydrant?
Saw this going to a friend’s house- they bagged the fire hydrants….one thought was snow; but this is the first year apparently. And snow has been a mild issue this year compared to most.
Broke out grandma’s candy thermometer….
Gotta ask, what kinda candy was she making? Soft crack. Hard crack. Pot….
Even has the donuts on there for, you know, dealing with the munchies.
for the chemistry types- making chicken soup. Why did lemon juice turn the light brown chicken stock almost white?
Okay, so I was making chicken soup from stock I had made using a (lightly,) browned carcus and neck. just before dumping the the dumplings into it, the stock's color was a nice light brown. I added about 1/4 cup of lemon juice, turned my back for 30 seconds after a stir and it turned it an almost milky-off white. Eventually it deepened to this:
It's delicious, and tastes as expected, I'm just curious as to what happened in the broth's chemistry?
Seasoned with salt (duh), a sprig of thyme, some ginger and garlic, (just a hint of ginger,) black pepper, lemon zest (which was added with the torn chicken,) and white wine deglazed the pot from browning the dark meat.
The stock was from garlic, onion, celery, carrot and maybe ginger scraps cooked with the chicken carcass..
linear rail upgrades, looking for feed back.
Due to reasons... I've "adopted" a CR10s that a friend had bought. It was used, and was already well on it's way to being a janky Printer of Theseus. My hope is to get it up and running and put through it's paces before the holidays so I can give it back as a gift.
With the linear rail upgrades, I picked up the hardware and it's on it's way; which got me looking at how to do the upgrade, which I have mostly figured out; the question I'm having is, most upgrades seem to place the rails on 2020 extrusions sitting on top of the base frame- same as how the original y axis 2040's were designed.
Which raises the question- why not lower it so the 2020 rails are even with the frame, with the mgn12 rail sitting on top? Like so:
The short answer I came to is this would necessitate replacing the brackets for the y stepper motor and it's idler; but it should be possible. the easiest solution would be something like:
which raises the question: are printed parts rigid enough to hold against the tension on the belts? The motors can't handle too much tension anyhow, and the printer already has the screw-cap tensioners for x and y printed that seem to have been holding up well.
has anybody replaced the OG metal bracket on the back? does it stress and need replacing often, or is it fairly reliable (and above all, consistent,)
UC security cops are literally the worst.
I mean, like incompetent. For the record those organs I just stole? literally on the desk in front of him. Time to hike on over and sell it. To the Trade Authority.... all 20 feet away...
(this was in the UC security in the Well, new atlantis)
Car wash: touchless or soft touch?
Which do you use and why? Which one gets it cleaner. If it matters we have “real” winters here, meaning snow cruft and salt that absolutely must be removed.
Edit to clarify: I’m talking about a choice in automated car washes- not hand washing cars. Seems people are getting confused. Touchless is a few passes with a pressure washer. Soft touch adds spinning car-wash brush things.
well, that was entirely preventable
Lockouts save lives
Usually idiots, but sometimes we’re all idiots.
Ship building question
Okay, so, with structural modules- specifically the cowl/belly/hull modules you can slap in... aside from the trivial gains to hull, are they basically just for attachment points/decoration?
could i protect things that can be targeted- the weapons, shields, engines, and grav drive- by placing 'under' hull components? or does that just not matter?
