Reddit morals vs Lemmy morals in the greentext community

I recently came across a Reddit post with a greentext also posted here a few weeks before (by me). While the one here got downvoted, the one on Reddit got over two thousand upvotes. Don’t take me wrong however, this has led me to realize how much morals differ between the two platforms; it seems to me like Lemmings have overall better morals in general. I’ve come to appreciate this. Evidence like this shows how much better Lemmy is as a community (excluding lemmygrad) when compared to Reddit. Instead of becoming what you swore to destroy, you became better a better version. I thought you all would find this interesting.

  • “Nome” or “guh-nome,” that is the question

  • Does anyone else feel like tech peaked around 10+ years ago?
  • In my opinion, technology keeps improving, however that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s getting better. I think innovation in technology peaked from the 2000s to the early 2010s, after this period however, it has continually become more and more “enshitified,” meaning that features no one wanted suddenly being added. For example, “ai coffee maker” (this is real), like who asked for this? Not to mention, not only is everything more bloated, but levels of privacy have decreased significantly; every aspect of your digital life is capitalized on for advertising. The early 2010s were simpler times.

  • Most people say “Zoomer/Zoomers” or just plain “Gen Z.” I thought you were talking about a hybrid generation at first!

  • Is it possible to install my own OS on a "smart" TV? Is that a thing?
  • This would be awesome, but something else I thought of would be DRM. If you don’t have the correct version (like Linux and a few android custom roms) then you would stream at really low quality. So if you even came up with a free smart tv os, it would lack quality streaming

  • [Meme] Which movie was this for you?
  • Yes I remember enjoying this movie. I loved all of the characters from legends and stories, as well as all of its steampunk elements. It’s totally underrated.

  • While this is technically liminal, Wikipedia describes liminal spaces as “empty or abandoned places[.]” Because of this definition and the fact that people are included, I don’t think that this photo is fully liminal. It’s an excellent photo, but not, in my opinion, fully liminal.
