Not from State Farm. Sorry to disappoint. I'm just a half-Iranian American exploring the fediverse. I am interested in science, tech, philosophy, animals, comedy, a wide range of music, and even politics. Though the politics in my country are plain depressing atm.

tante.cc Does Open Source AI really exist?

The OSI has presented their definition of Open Source AI and a closer reading only shows that "Open Source AI" probably just isn't a thing that can exist.

Does Open Source AI really exist?

    > cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/21873892 > > > The Open Source Initiative (OSI) released the RC1 (“Release Candidate 1” meaning: This thing is basically done and will be released as such unless something catastrophic happens) of the “Open Source AI Definition“. > > > > Some people might wonder why that matters. Some people come up with a bit of writing on AI, what else is new? That’s basically LinkedIn’s whole existence currently. But the OSI has a very special role in the Open Source software ecosystem. Because Open Source isn’t just based on the fact whether you can see code but also about the License that code is covered under: You might get code that you can see but that you are not allowed to touch (think of the recent WinAmp release debate). The OSI basically took on the role of defining which of the different licenses that were being used all over the place actually are “Open Source” and which come with restrictions that undermine the idea. > > > > This is very important: Picking a license is a political act with strong consequences. It can allow or forbid different modes of interaction with an object or might put certain requirements to the use.

    First attempt at Borodinsky bread

I heard you might enjoy this Borodinsky Bread I made. It's my first attempt at bread making and I know I messed on multiple steps including adding probably too much ground black caraway. But it is still satisfying having a giant loaf to call my own.

I have clarifying questions on the rules. If this isn't the proper format in which to ask them, then let me know. Are animated music videos allowed? By year, do you mean the year the music video was made or the year the first version of the song was published?

China’s ‘rotten-tail buildings’: homebuyers in limbo for years with no home due to dodgy developers and red tape | South China Morning Post

A survey conducted this year found over 45 per cent of homebuyers in mainland China encounter unfinished building problems

Unfinished or ‘rotten-tail buildings’, as they are known in China, usually have no electricity, no running water, lifts that do not work and no sewage system

So I tried to make hot process soap today

I am pretty sure I over cooked it. I kept waiting for the mixture to look glossy but it was only ever partial so I wound up cooking it for 3 hours before deciding to just put it in the mold anyway and the soap doesn't hold together very well. I am leaving it in for a day but when I was pressing it into the mold it just felt like it wasn't forming a cohesive whole.

    Can Amanita Muscaria be vaped?

From what I understand, decarboxylation is the key to making Fly Agaric safe and hallucinogenic, and given vaping decarbs cannabis, I figure it might do the same.
