Margot Robbie Baffled Over ‘Babylon’ Flop and ‘Still Can’t Figure Out Why People Hated It’: ‘I Wonder If in 20 Years People’ Will Be Shocked It Bombed
Margot Robbie still does not understand why so many people hate "Babylon."
Xtallll @lemmy.blahaj.zone The real question is, why didn't more people see Amsterdam?
1 0 ReplyTeknikal @eviltoast.org Don't think I even finished it, the only thing it had going for it was Margot Robbie.
3 0 ReplyAermis @lemmy.world It's 7.1 on imdb... Is that the right one? How did a movie so well reviewed flop?
1 0 ReplyTheImpressiveX @lemmy.ml OP Critical success does not always translate to financial success.
Box office gross is not an indicator of a film's quality, or lack thereof.
6 0 ReplymPony @lemmy.world hang on, are you trying to tell us that money powerhouse franchises like Fast & Furious or Madea are actually not quality movies? /s

unknowing8343 @discuss.tchncs.de Individually, scenes are amazing. But as a movie? A complete waste of time. That's why it flopped, because it was just rich people burning money for absolutely nothing.
25 0 ReplyBakkoda @sh.itjust.works Yeah it had all the ingredients. It just was so meh.

Grandwolf319 @sh.itjust.works I’m one of those people. Knew about it for a while cause I’m a movie nerd but I read the plot.
It sounded like rich people indulging in hedonism.
Didn’t peak my interest.
23 0 ReplySwordgeek @lemmy.ca FYI...
Pique, not peak.
26 1 ReplyGrandwolf319 @sh.itjust.works Wait so it’s not the highest point of my interest?
God damn English, I thought I had learned you by now.

keyez @lemmy.world The initial trailers put me off as well but the movie itself is about much more than that, is really well done and it's entertaining

Carvex @lemmy.world It came out in 2022 and I've never heard of it, like not one commercial or preview. A quick search shows it's over 3 hours long, drags out with no clear point and misrepresents history pretty badly. I'm not really surprised
19 1 Replykeyez @lemmy.world I would have to agree, I saw it on streaming months after it was available and really enjoyed the movie. The trailer in the theater made me not want to see it but once I did I wish I had seen it in theaters.
4 0 Replywharsmetoothpicson @lemmy.world I'm not sure anyone will be thinking anything about it in 20 years.

emax_gomax @lemmy.world Didn't help the plot is completely opaque. I still have no idea what it's about. It is in my to-watch list tho.
9 1 ReplySanctimoniousApe @lemmings.world Sounds like those who've seen it still don't know any more than you do.
